    Hi JAC!

It’s a blessing to know you’ve recovered so quickly. And I hope and pray you get better and better with no relapse! Yes, don’t focus on if a relapse might or might not happen. Just keep living! But the great thing about experiencing something like GBS, is that we know the signs, and can be very careful as to not overwork ourselves. I really like what your nurse said. I will keep that as inspiration! I’ve been in this for 2 years now, but it’s great to know that after it’s over, life will go back to normal, as much as it can. I’m inspired by your post. Thank you!

    Hi!

Yes! It’s good to remain optimistic in our health issues. We’re not supermen or superwomen, but we can be positive! Thank you and I pray you have a full recovery and things get easier everyday!!!

    Hi Dave,

I am sorry for your loss. Words can not ease the heartache and pain, but God can. I will keep you and your family in prayer. Trust God!!!

    Hi Chrissy!

Thank you! I’m glad to be able to encourage someone. It’s nothing like getting encouragement from someone who understands what you are going through firsthand. Family and some friends may be there, but they don’t really understand, and some may think you’re faking or not feeling as bad as you say. Even after 15 years of going through this, you are still standing strong and are an encouragement to me, that no matter how long I may experience this, take time to smell the roses and enjoy life! And yes! I am already experiencing seeing who my real friends are. It’s better to know now, than to have wasted time entertaining non-genuine friends. It hurts but true friends are hard to find. I’m seeing now who’s by my side and who’s not. I cherish the real ones 🙂

Amen! It’s good to see that despite going through this for years, your faith remains strong. I’ve been going through this for almost a year, but faith in God gets me through the hard days. Always smile because you’re still hear in the land of the living! And yes, there are others who are less fortunate, so it’s even more to be thankful for! I pray for all those who have been recently diagnosed and those that have been going through this for years. Stay strong and look up!

    Hi!

First I am sorry to hear that your mom came down with this. I am 24 years old, and was diagnosed with GBS in Oct 2011, and I still have extreme pain and weakness. Not to say that your mom will have this severe pain as long, for every person’s recovery is different. I can say that I did not experience extreme hand pains in the beginning stages of this. I have experienced extreme hand pain recently in the past 3 or so months, and have been seeing a rheumatologist as well as a neurologist. I had to get an ultrasound on my hands and there is fluid build up; it is a symptom of GBS they said-some people have pain in other places that other people don’t. I would recommend that she sees a rheumatologist if the pain continues to worsen. I pray that she will be on a quick road to recovery! It will be a year for me this Oct, but I am grateful to be alive! Just continue to be positive, uplifting, and helpful during this time 🙂

    Hi Gabe!

I’m glad to hear you are on the road to recovery! I was diagnosed with GBS back in Oct 2011, and I have to say it has been a very humbling experience as well. I am getting better through physical therapy, and am looking forward to the day when I can look back on this experience and just smile 🙂 You are in my prayers for a quick recovery!

Hello Emilys_mom, thanks for your response. I recently spoke with a family member who’s a doctor, and she worked at the Mayo clinic as well, and she recommends me to definitely see a Rheumatologist. I wish she was in NJ where I live, but she’s in D.C. She said the symptoms I described to her reflect a rheumatological disorder as well. When I was hospitalized, she came all the way from D.C. and immediately knew I had GBS, because she treated so many patients with it at the Mayo Clinic. She could offer advice to the docs, but couldn’t treat me as her own patient b/c she was out of jurisdiction. When I had the MRIs done, they did with and without contrast, and that was normal. I will check out the Centers of Excellence as well. Thanks so much!!!

Hi Goodney, thank you for your recommendation. I will check him out!!
