It’s been awhile since I’ve been on. I visited my neurologist last Friday and had a Plasma Exchange as well (with an oil change in between … no seriously I had the oil changed on my Outback in between the neuro visit and my PE).

The neurologist visit went very well. My balancing on one foot test (whatever that one is called) was not as good as it has been, but I haven’t been practicing that for quite some time. My neurologist told be to keep practicing standing on one foot for 1 minute to keep exercising the muscles and pushing the nerve connections.

I suggested trying to extend the PE treatments again, but he urged caution due to the set back I suffered last time. His concern was towards recovery if I let things go too far.

I’ve reflected quite a bit lately on the extent of my decline and subsequent recovery. I am so blessed. I continue working out at the gym. I’ve injured some tiny muscle in my shoulder and I’m dropping down on weights and taking it easy until it recovers. I’m up to 45 minutes on the elliptical machine 3-4 times a week. My weight is coming down and I’m feeling better in most regards.

PE twice on consecutive Fridays every 6 weeks is still my only treatment and it continues to keep the antibodies in check.

I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hmmm, I think I’ll go have a round at the Tavern. Meet me there???

    Carol,

Give Norb my best regards as well. I haven’t been on the Forum for awhile, I’m so glad I checked in today. I’m sorry to read about your struggles.

Knowing your story and how happy Norb looked in front of his car; travel, adventure and giving of yourselves to others must hold a very fond place in your hearts. CIDP and your hip are restricting you from your “calling”. Maybe there’s a way you can allow someone to minister to you guys in this.

You’re in a beautiful part of the country although the weather is harsh this time of the year. I wonder if there’s not some way you can plan or have an adventure? Something to get those juices flowing again??? Or perhaps Norb can chronicle some of the adventures y’all have had together until you are able to have your next adventure. Norb’s story website and his prose here on the Forum have been such a help to so many. I can’t help but think he has such a wealth to share he should start writing (not an easy thing for us numb fingered folks to do heh heh heh).

Tell Norb that I’ll be checking in at the tavern and looking to hear a yarn or two. I’ll buy the first round …

FALSE … (but I watch). BYW Alma, just got back from Okmulgee (grandmother’s funeral) 108 degrees F WHEW, it was hot. Indian Nation Turnpike was well patrolled (and I didn’t even get a ticket!)

TNP has gotten a ticket to the policeman’s ball this year!

Dick, So sorry to read about your loss. I just lost my grandmother this last week. We buried her in Okmulgee (it was 108 degrees F). I had a plasma exchange Tuesday morning. We drove to Dallas after lunch and spent the night there. We drove to Okmulgee, had the service, then turned around an drove back to Dallas Wednesday afternoon. We drove home yesterday and got in around 7:00pm. (I’m tired).

I am glad to read that you are playing golf again regularly. I went out last month and shot in the low 80’s. My driver couldn’t miss and my iron shots were straight (distance control wasn’t so good). So I went out last week thinking, “hey, I’ve got this down again and I’ll post another good score”. WRONG!!! I shot in the 100’s. I was in trouble the whole round. I drank 3 bottles of sports drink and could barely lift my arms by the time the round was over. It was so hot and humid and the heat coupled with fatigue beat me down. I was a couple of days recovering. BUT, I’m golfing again. Sometimes its very good and sometimes I’m just enjoying the outdoors and being able to walk and stand and grip again.

Life is tough … CIDP S T I N K S !!! But God gives me the grace to live joyfully.

Maybe a different brand of golf balls would help me?!?

True, just did this morning … was encouraging “her” that she could start up lotus notes (horrible email program) … but it’s not her fault she has to run crummy software. Ahem …

TNP has worn a new article of clothing with the price tag still on it and had someone else spot it and call your attention to the tag. 😮

FINALLY! Some friends to share the Tavern with…

I’ll have one of those Umbrella drinks too Alma. The next round is on me.

Northerguitarguy? I can’t imagine GBS/CIDP and being a guitarist. I play at the cello and never thought I’d play again. It’s so sweet to be able to depress the strings again. We need a jam session … but the band tonight is very smooth. Is that a Chris Cross song they’re playing?

    Jason,

Glad you found us, sorry it’s under these circumstances. Welcome to the family. We walk this journey together. It’s a great group of folks who know what you’re going through and care.

    Please keep in contact.

Yuehan, thanks for the observation. I don’t keep a log, but should start. I always feel better after I exercise. I actually feel better tonight that the last two days. But if I kept a log I could get a better correlation and see what it might tell me.

I mowed the lawn tonight. It was not quite so warm and humid as late July days can be here on the Gulf Coast. So I’m not quite as worn out as usual.

My leg is better and I only feel a little numbness on the tips of my fingers. But my feet are still quite numb and achy. I think I’m coming out of this one. The B-12 injection last night probably has a lot to do with how I feel as well.

Well, it’s off to bed for me.

    Good night my friends.

I would tend to agree with you Lori, but CIDP is so individualized who knows? I have a friend that was diagnosed with CIDP. His came on so suddenly (like GBS) and was treated and recovered, relapsed, was treated and recovered and hasn’t had any treatments since.

Sure sounded like GBS to me, but he says he was diagnosed with CIDP.

    Go figure?!?

WOW the Tavern has been relagated to 3rd page! 😮 I never thought I’d see the day.

I think I’m going to get a glass of sparkling wine (Verdi from Italy if you have it please) and wander down by the pool tables and see if anyone is there.

There’s a bad smell coming from the tunnels … I’m afraid to go back down there. We used to have the most interesting races in the tunnels. There were a couple of very competitive ruthless gals who would do anything to win the race. Sure do miss them. (Heavy sigh).

Yea Jim. You pulled through for me again. Thanks for the photos. They made me laugh out loud and I really needed it tonight.

    Thanks for being there buddy.

    I’m headed for the Tavern.
