I hope tears don’t hurt keyboards. This tingling is not from CIDP; God’s Spirit has moved my spirit. Thank you Saint Linda. I am truly humbled by your prayer. :’)

I had a little set back last week and had to go in for my back-to-back PE’s earlier than wanted. I was really bummed out. ๐Ÿ™ I’m recovering now and starting to feel good again and regain my strength and feeling. My wife was bummed out too, but her spirit has recovered. CIDP is a horrible disease. May God richly bless you all who are dealing with CIDP/GBS: healing, strength, encouragement, peace, patience, comfort.

I’ve been praying for the requests you have posted, sorry I don’t let you know that more often.

I’ve been studying Psalms, specifically looking for God’s attributes in them. Attributes means nature or character. They tell us who God is and how he operates. Through them you can know God. Psalm 150 says that:
God is in his sanctuary; his mighty heavens. It also says that He is powerful and surpassingly great. He is all powerful and no one here on earth or in the spiritual realm is greater.

How awesome is that? It’s something I need to keep in mind even though I’m sick.

Psalm 150 says that we should (in response to these attributes of God) Praise Him with music.

Sing a song of praise to our mighty surpassingly great God with me tonight… and keep prayin’. He loves us and can meet all our needs.

Emma, seems like I remember Wile E. Coyote using an Acme Paint to paint a fake tunnel on the side of a boulder. Hmmm… You wouldn’t be using Acme products would you???

Thanks Linda, you make a mean float…the foam tickled my nose…

Hi Lauren,

I too have a problem with swelling in my ankles primarily, but my lower legs and feet (even into my toes) swell periodically. Most people had to be convinced that it wasn’t imaginary…

I’ve noticed that activity usually keeps the swelling down. I try to do aerobic exercise daily (elliptical machine, weight training and swimming). I also do my physical therapy exercises daily. My wife and I daily ride our bicycles. And I try to walk and take stairs whenever I can. (Yes it’s very time consumming, but it’s what I have to do to keep the swelling down). I try to keep my feet elevated when at my desk at work … which doesn’t really look very good, but it helps.

I’ve also noticed that an extended plane trip or drive causes swelling. The last plane trip I took to Cincinatti didn’t cause swelling on the way up (I made sure to exercise before we left and as soon as the plane was on the ground we took a walk across the purple people bridge). But after the return trip cause a lot of swelling.

BTW … who is that little cutie in your photo?

By the Way … my neurologist recommended I get innoculated for Flu, Pneumonia, and Shingles.

I’m really reluctant to get the vaccines. From what I’ve read here on the Forum, the “nay” postings are ahead by about 10:1. I have a friend whose mother was given the flu vaccine after remission from GBS and she died. She vehemently advises not to take the vaccine. She even suspects (as do some of you) that a flu vaccination contributed or caused her GBS in the first place. That doesn’t make me feel very confident.

What I don’t have a good feel for is whether the postings here advising against vaccinations are personal opinions or the docs recommendations.

I’d like to run a poll (no, not on the US presidential election) …

Vaccinations: Doctor advises vaccinations
Yes No
Vaccinations: CIDP (or GBS) patient advises vaccinations
Yes No

Would covet hearing your responses and advise …

Psalm 103:1-3
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,

I think it’s time for an update:

I underwent a plasma exchange yesterday and will do another this afternoon. It had been 16 day between PE’s, so the time is increasing. ๐Ÿ™‚

I started feeling the burning in my feet Tuesday evening and Wednesday my the bottoms of my feet felt more swollen, my hands were hot and I felt like I had a fever. Then the tingling and numbness returned to my fingers.

I was really bummed out when the burning returened ๐Ÿ™ when the burning began. I had felt so good and made such progress that I had started letting the “remission” idea into my head (unrealistic on my part, but I was hopeful and I’m an optimist).

I’m still hopeful to extend the improvement cycle to 3+ weeks. And I’m thankful and want to give praise to God for the treatments and my improvement’s.

The physical therapist is impressed with the progress I have made from visit to visit and has added in several more exercises and increased the resistance and weights.

I still warm up on the stationary bicycle, do leg presses, curls and toe flex, balance stuff, stair steppers, therapy band exercises for my feet and ankles and squeezing a clay putty and grip device. Now they’ve added in walking forward and back and side to side with a bungie cord around my waist. It really targets specific muscles and I sure do feel it.

Thanks still for all your prayers, advice and encouragement.

Christie,

My wife keeps expecting me to “grow up” so I guess biological age doesn’t seem to make any difference… ๐Ÿ˜€

I too struggle with CIDP. The crawling skin, itching, tingling, burning ick comes and goes.

I’m glad you feel like you’re fitting in with us “young” folks. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Linda,

I am sorry to hear you are so anxious. Scripture comforts me when I feel anxious:

So dear Linda, know that you are in the tender care of the Sovereign God of the Universe and He is always watching over you. Jesus the Son of God will be standing beside you before during and after the surgery. In fact His Spirit will not only be with you, but you have the Spirit of God in you…John 14:15-17.

That’s just who God is, it’s His nature, His attributes and nothing (not even these horrible diseases we endure) can change that.

May you find peace, strength, comfort and be encouraged knowing you are a child of God.
