Recovering from GBS

    • March 22, 2017 at 5:14 pm

I was diagnosed with GBS this past October a year after having my baby. I suffered a facial paralysis, my ability to walk and movement of the legs. Thankfully it did not affect my respiratory system. After 2 weeks in ICu and 2 weeks in rehab, I was discharged using a walker. I’m now fully functional even though my face still has some paralysis. I’m 35 and I live in Miami. If anyone has any good doctor recommendation, support group, and/ or has any advice they can offer I definitely would appreciate it.

Just Curious, how long did it take for you to recover from your gbs?

      Hi determined,
I’m still recovery from GBS. I was diagnosed this pst October. My ability to walk on my own has returned (that took about two months after being diagnosed) but I still have a slight paralysis on my face. I still get very tired and have to take it easy. I was told full recovery may take up to a year. Hope this helps. Pls let me know if I can answer anymore of your questions.

I also still have the numbness/tingling in my hands and feet.

Yours is a relatively mild case. During recovery, you do need to get regular exercise but must pace yourself. Don’t get to the point of exhaustion. That won’t make your recovery any faster and might set it back.
