I wish I could say I’m all better, and its all behind me now. But thats not the case. In Feb. I started taking antidepressants, that seems to help a ” little.” I have my own business and go in for a half a day 7:30 till noon or so. But then come home and sleep on the couch for a couple hours. Then for the next hour I’m to groggy to to do much. About 3 weeks ago I was out working around the house on a saturday and I put alot into it. Rested and did some more in the late afternoon. That was the most physical I been in awhile, but the next day I really felt it, (couch potato all day).
I haven’t been on the site much either it starts getting to me. We all have our cross to bear (I just wish it would lighten up a bit) 🙂 I go to work and people ask me how I’m doing, an I put on the happy face and say “Great, almost there.” And then get off that subject and on to business.
Stay tuned movie at 11:00. “Great Almost There”
I’ll give you another update in about a year.Good Luck to everyone…

My doctor explained it to me in laymans terms. The drug would help push the electrical pulse thru the nerves that have been damaged. As for me, I gave him a description of one of the things that I noticed about myself. ” When I was young I would take a tablet and at the bottom of the pages I would make stickmen on each page and then flip the pages to make a movie. Now if you were to skip a few pages in the middle and not have any stick men, there would be a skip. Thats what my brain does.” Small short lapses.
Anyway that just one of my problems. I’m getting better little by little now but its is a slow process. Even if this new drug doesn’t help me I hope it will help others.Bill
I was just at the neuro doctors yesterday and he seemed excited about it. The name the company has given it is Ampydin (IR). I contacted the company that makes it and more trials should begin in JUne or JUly. I am not at all familiar with the FDA trials or how many hoops has to go through to get it to the public. Do a search for Ampydin the company is Neruorecovery Inc. I asked to be on a clinical trial, I think all should do the same, and maybe some of us would get the stuff and not the aspirin. Also the company is not publicly traded. Darn!!!!

Nobody can tell you how to prepare for your son or daughter to leave the nest. At 18 my son left to go to college out of country. But between the ages of 8 and 18 we spent the winters ski racing the New york USSA circuit. They were the best years of my life. The worst day of my life was when we took him to the airport for him to go to college. I would live through GBS a 100 times before I would do that one day over.
BillI ‘m a year out and a few days. I am making an appointment with another neuro. becuse the one I had at onset saw maybe 2 cases a year….Any way fatigue is a problem for me also. If I find anything out I will most certainly post it , but I’m not holding my breath. Being from a small rural area in the middle of nowhere I have to travel either 5 hours to Pittsburg or 4 hours the Phila. of 3 hours to Rochester NY. I have picked Rochester. None the less GBS is a pain in the a$$ no matter where you live.
BillI’m coming up on the first anniversary of my getting GBS, While most mornings are ok, the brain fog and fatigue hit in thr early afternoon. I guess my question is would another shot of IVIG sayonce a month help. I’ve been thinking about this lately, glad the post is up again.

Happy Birthday Fireman,
And just a short note of interest, my son was just hired by FDNY.Bill
I had rashes about 5years before I came down with GBS, I still get them, but I accounted it to stress. This is the first I’ve heard about any possible connection. I would be interested how many others out there had this problem and when the rash started.
