Update on Dell

Thank you to all my friends on this site that have prayed for Dell and our family.
Dell is 3 years old. He contracted CIDP at 5-8 months of age.
Two weeks ago, we came into the hospital for 5 days of Solumedrol (iv steroids). It must have worked. Dell was very weak when we came to the hospital and the day after we were released, we started seeing improvement.
He can now walk in his walker again, stand without any hint of falling and do things he had been having problems with. His head is much stronger, still not back to normal but we’ll take this.
We are back in the hospital for 24 hours of Solumedrol. Our doctor is following the direction of other neuros that have been treating adults with CIDP. Like the post a couple weeks ago, some drs. are using Solumedrol instead of ivig.
Dell will still receive ivig but Solumedrol has replaced it as the 1st line of defense against the CIDP. IVIG works for him some then other times it does not.
Dell also received 33% new blood about 1 month ago. His bloodwork looks pretty good. His SED rate dropped last week but I do not have the b/w for this stay.
We are excited about the change in Dell, we are just praying it will continue, without any horrible effects from the steriods.
He has gained about 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks but since he’s only 23-1/2 lbs, he could afford to gain a little anyway.
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.
