Loss of taste

Initially I lost all sense of taste with the other standard symptoms. It has been over 6 months and some of my taste has come back. However I still cannot taste sweetness, salt, or vinegar. It is very peculiar. My neurologist said there is a good chance it will not come back at all. Researching it looks like taste loss is rare. Have any of you has this?

I lost taste for about 3 months with onset of CIDP symptoms. Slowly came back this month after IVIG treatments.

The last (2 now) I.V. of steroid “concoction” was administered to me in less than 30 mins! (Instead of the HOUR that was taken on 1st I.V.!) I got a metallic taste in my mouth and “flush” feeling, as well as tingling in face. Reading Ya’lls’ taste experiences makes more sense to me now, makes me feel like I’m really not going crazy and understand this CIDP a little better! Thank You! Kevin-
