Just diagnosed

Brought in by ambulance to a small city hospital in greater LA on Christmas night. I thought I injured my back possibly pinched nerves, disk b/c of paralysis. Kept explaining the paralysis but was written off as a chronic bad back w/no intervention by a neurosurgeon who never saw me in person. terrible response blaimed on Christmas & flu season. Finally did spinal & found elevated protein. I’m on my second day on immunoglobulin. Still can’t move from the torso down. Grateful I have my arms & doesn’t seem to be diminishing my breathing. I’m scared though. They were trying to transfer me but I think they are talking about not doing that now b/c the treatment is “standard.” I don’t trust them but I like being close to my family, not sure if I should do the IV here or keep pushing to go to a center of excellence?? I’m 43 this came out of nowhere,I take care of my very ill father & daughter while my husband works to support us 60-70 hours a week. Any help is appreciated, thank you!!

Why do you think you need to go to a center of excellence? If you have a neurologist you trust and are getting the care you need, then go with it.

Don’t trust the neurologist @ all but everyone is on vacation Christmas & New Years so I’ve been told basically just continue this for weeekend @ least

You need a personal neurologist, not just whomever is on hospital duty. Where was your personal physician in all this? And why don’t you trust the neurologist?

As you are receiving IVIg where you are, stick with that until you can get to a Neurologist at the closest Centre for Excellence.

      Good luck. ❤️
