      Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with CIDP two years ago by a Rheumatologist.
I still see him & think highly of him. However, because I am not
really improving, I would like to see a Neurologist for a 2nd opinion.

I am on IVIG every 3-4 weeks for 3 days and Orencia
(1 time every month). I have really felt terrible this week. The pain
and fatigue are awful. I can’t get my body to do anything. My family
really wants me to see someone else.

Can anyone recommend a Neurologist to me in the LA area?
I have called several and they do not treat CIDP. Whenever I hear
that, I can’t believe it! How can they not???!!!

Anyway, thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.

      Sandila

P.S. Do most patients with CIDP see a Neurologist for treatment?

I can’t believe a neuro. office says they do not treat CIDP. What do they treat, dog bites?

My mom is on orencia for her RA and it’s given her a new lease on life. My suggestion, call the foundation and see if they have a number to someone in your area.

I drive 1 hour each way for our neuro. for my 3 year old. There is no neuro. on the Mississippi Gulf Coast (bottom of state) and even if there was, I probably wouldn’t use them.

Good luck and don’t stop looking.

have you tried the two medical schools in LA? I would think UCLA and USC would have a neurologist or two who treat and have heard of CIDP.

Here are a few very knowledgeable sub-specialists in LA area:

Dr. Michael Graves heads the neuromuscular program at UCLA. He originally diagnosed me four years ago. He was very good. If you go to the UCLA health care web site and search under the “find a doctor” section, you’ll find his office info.

Dr. King Engel – USC. I’ve never seen him, but he is very well known.

Dr. Tasheen Mozzafar – UCI Medical Center. He heads neuromuscular program at UCI. My primary neurologist sent me to see him for some fresh ideas on treatment. He is good. Go t UCI medical center Web site, and he’s in the “find a doctor” section.

      Good luck
