GBS and Prednisone

      Hi Everyone! I’ve noticed that some of you take Prednisone and some say Prednisone is not good with GBS. Could you explain when it is okay, etc.?

      I’ve had GBS for 9 months and have been on Prednisone twice during this time for an out of control rash. I also have Shingles, but do not receive treatment for that at this time because I have no pain from it. Guess I’m wondering if Prednisone could be a detriment to my recovery.

      Hi,

      Steroids are not a treatment for GBS. You are using them for something else obviously. Fatigue is the longest lasting residual in my opinion, and as I understand, one of the side effects of that stuff is muscle weakness. Kind of like taking a pill to add a GBS sympton to things almost. Run it by your doc and maybe there’s some other drug to try.
