I didn’t see that you had made my grandson a special thread, Cheryl – what a touching surprise!:) ๐
I’ll have to post his picture one more time, then, won’t I:rolleyes:
– and when I get more pics, I can just keep ’em coming, now that he has an official space on the Forum! And the best: it wasn’t my own idea (he-he!)

Yes, he is cute. With all the excitement you forgot to tell us his name ๐
Farmor, is your husband then farfar? If you had a daughter with a baby would you be the mormor? Interesting how the family relationships are used in Norwegian as compared to English and German.
-
AnonymousMarch 30, 2007 at 6:30 pm
Thanks, everyone – it sooo nice to receive all the congratulations from across the Pond – I hereby pronounce you all honorary aunts and uncles ๐ ๐ .
Your linguistic deductions are quite right Norb – it goes to show Norwegian (and Danish plus Swedish), English and German belong to the same linguistc family: the Germanic, from the time the Germanic tribes spread north from where Germany is to-day to England and Scandinavia.
I’m such a proud farmor to-day because I made the little guy sleep in his crib twice, using sweet-talk, holding his head in my hand while coaxing him to keep his comforter in his mouth.
The reason I haven’t told you his name, is because it’s not yet completely decided upon, but I’ll tell you as soon as the decision is final. The only thing I can say is that my son wants his son’s initials to be W.W.W., (:D)something that my daughter-in-law is not so sure about – she thinks W.W. will suffice. Between us: I tend to side with her!
It’s too late to post a picture now, but you won’t wait in vain, I can assure you.

I hope you’ll appreciate the very first picture of our WILLIAM. It’s a fairly common name in Norway too, but here we’ll never call him Bill or Billy for short. If he’ll have a nickname it will probably be Will or Wille.

๐ Farmor, those are the best type of pics-they come in handy when the babe is in their early teens and dating years!!:D I have a brother named william, but we call him bill, and there are williams on my hubby’s side of the family who go by willie and william and billie. He is soo precious, please give william a big hug from auntie c!:)

To-day William is a whole week old. Unfortunately we haven’t had time to visit, but his proud father told us on the phone that everything was fine. Eating and sleeping is still the young’un’s “favourite waste of time”, but I think that’s OK with his parents. He seems not to be one of them “cry-babies”, at least up until now, except when his mother had eaten broccoli!:D
Here they are, father and son:

Lacking 11 days on three months, I just want you to know I’m all right and amazed about all the curious things around me. Besides feeding and sleeping, I just learn, learn, learn!

Thank you, Jim! So nice of you to “doctor” the picture. I can do that myself on Picasa, but I haven’t figured out how to upload from Picasa to MyFrappr yet. Perhaps it’s very easy, I just haven’t had the time. I know how to export the Picasa versions back to “My pictures”, but that’s a matter of time too, you know!
Thanks again, Jim:) ๐

Hey Allaug, looks like you have all reason to be a proud farmor.
Here is our latest addition, Kai, now about 1 month old (or close). I just found out this morning that Sydney is going to have a little brother, due December. Our daughter wanted another girl, but so it goes. ๐

I’m sooo jealous of those beautiful babies! Some day I’ll get to be a grandma. Just trying to figure out how they got that great hair. My son was born with hardly any, just little tufts of red which fell out.

After having given beer but a glance, (see:”….Picture to share”), our little protagonist found it was worth a try to have some semi-solid food put in (on!) his face:

Time flies like wind (and fruit flies like pears, but that is another story, entirely!) and our sweet William has been with us for a little more than seven months already. But before passing that landmark, he reached a couple of even more important milestones a couple of days before:
No. 1. He figured out how to turn himself around and sit on his bum – and keep his balance so he could keep sitting. Here’s the proof:

No 2: see next posting
-
AnonymousOctober 30, 2007 at 9:54 am
NO 2 (Contd. from above posting):
William also found out that he could drag himself up along the bars of his crib and stand on his own. To his parents big surprise he woke them up one morning by babbling from another angle than before, and when his mother opened her eyes towards his bed, she saw only legs and feet, and the sound was coming from sort of above. He is proud of himself and we are very proud of him. Here is the proof of this story:

Hugs to everybody, especially to Aunti C. from
(not so) Wee William -

Its only a matter of time before William will be running around!:D Wow!!! He is getting around well for his age Farmor Allaug! I can’t believe its been that long already! Such A Handsome Lad!!!
My Grand Niece is almost 5 months and right on Williams’ tail. I can’t wait to see her get to her milestones. Monday I had her on my lap, she was holding my fingers and trying to pull herself up to a sitting position. Everytime she would do the ab crunch she would smile at me and act like she was playing peek-a-boo. Man I wish I could do ab crunches like babes can!;)Hugs to you William!!

This time there is no photo, but the story of “Sandman vs. Jerry Lee Lewis”:
William was sitting in his chair with a table in front of it, and grandpa (the “other” one) had given him his cell-phone which was playing grampa’s favourite music – mostly rock ‘n roll classics. William enjoyed it immensely and started jumping up and down like he has been doing since he was 3 months, only this time he jumped to the beat of the music, which was something new, and worth boasting of in itself, in my view of course:cool:
The phone was on random play and went on and on, and William kept jumping incessantly, almost in a trance. After quite a while he suddenly started to rub his eyes, jumping and rubbing at the same time. The phone was laying on the table under his arms. I was watching him closely, because I expected what happened just some seconds later – his head fell down on his arms – but the phone went on playing, and William went on jumping with his head down on his arms a few moments, then up again like a jack-in-the-box. Down his head fell once more, but his little nappy-bum kept the beat, going up and down from the seat of his chair. I think his head emerged only once more time while the music was enthralling him, but finally Sandman won the battle and William fell asleep on top of the phone in the middle of “Great Balls of Fire”!
He slept for about half an hour and the phone was playing all the time, because we were afraid that he would wake up if the music stopped. And guess what happened only seconds after he woke up? You were right: he went right on “bum-banging” again as if there had been no break, but at that point his mother found that enough was enough, and switched off the phone. I wouldn’t have been surprised if William had protested, but he found my necklace on the table, and started to examine it and didn’t utter a sound – and we were all enjoying the relative silence even though none of us dislikes good ol’ Rock and Roll!

You really have a point there, Cheryl and btw. AFV is one of my favourite shows!
Well, I think it’s about time I gave you an update on WWW i.e. “Wonderboy William Wisth”, on this pic already 7 1\2 months, taken the day after my birthday, when the family came to celebrate:

Finally, 4 1\2 months after they bought their house, it was ready to move into last Sunday, so now there will be a rather big change in William’s every-day life. I wonder how he’ll take it, but time will show.

William is having “the time of his life” (so far), partying every day with relatives on both sides. The picture was taken 11 days befor X-mas eve, which is the “big Day” here, and the very thought of it makes him smile in anticipation.

He has made tremendous progress the last couple of weeks, and last Friday he figured out how to clap his hands to make a sound. Unfortunately I can’t show you a video showing this extraordinary skill:D , but here is another pick with his favourite father and ditto stuffed rat:

Hello everybody!
On the day before William was 11 months old, his dad turned 30 years, and we all went to a nice restaurant in Oslo (9 of us in all) to celebrate. We had such a good time, and William had a very nice evening at the table, as you can see from his expression:

Farfar and I can’t wait to welcome our little “crown prince” to our “estate” here on the island. William and his parents are comming here for their holiday in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, let me celebrate the 100th posting here by telling you all that now William is walking (running), but unfortunately I haven’t any picture to prove it yet. This photo, however, will corroborate my testimony that he is able to feed himself:

At last William has arrived in the realm where he is the Crown Prince. (I’m now retired to the position of “King Mother”).
We are in the middle of the strawberry season here, and to-day I present to you the moment after H.R.H the Prince has emptied a bowl of strawberries in more ways than one. He seems to enjoy getting the berries both inside and out:

I’ll just add that he’s already charmed all the neighbours, and the boys a few years older han him compete in lending and\or giving him their old toys.

Last Sunday I met William and the rest of the family for the first time since the middle of July, and new pictures were of course taken. He grows up so fast, and he’s now a real toddler and not a baby any more. Next month he will already be a year and a half, but at that time I’ll be at the island. He doesn’t say any words yet, but makes a lot of special sounds, and it’s never hard to know what he wants (or doesn’t want, for that matter:D ).
Here is his portrait from Sunday:

Wow, he is a cutie. And drinking from a regular glass! They don’t stay little long… It’s great that he is so good when he is out, makes it so much easier to go places. Invariably you see a little one behaving and as soon as the food is brought out for the parents, etc., the cuties start acting up. We (my hub and I) see this quite often. It makes us want to go over there and keep the child occupied while the others eat, haha!

We are going to spoil him rotten and let him play in the snow as much as he likes even though he has a slight cold.

Hey Allaug! What a beautiful boy! I know you have much fun having him around. Something us grandparents have to enjoy in life! I think they are so sweet at that age. I have been watching the Casey Anthony Case where her two year old daughter at that time vanished. She has done nothing but lie even to her parents. Then they found her babies remains in a garbage bag! That really upsets me for her baby was so beautiful.
I don’t know why a mother would even do such a thing! I love my grandchildren! They are really fun having around and so loving and we get the fun of spoiling them! Thanks for sharing! He is adorable!

Believe it or not, but our dear little grandson is already less than a month away from his 2nd anniversary, and I just wanted to share two more pictures before he turns two. Here he is on his rocking horse. He got the horse as a gift on his first christmas, but it has been left in a corner up until recently when he finally was able to mount it himself, cuddle it and drag it along by it’s ear:

To-day is the big day:
HRH William the Cute has reached his second birthday, and Farmor has selected her recent favourite picture to celebrate the occasion:
We are going to have a big party at the other grandparents’ house in the afternoon with hot dogs and a huge layer-cake. There will be about 20 guests aging from 2 to 92 years.

Because of trouble with the picture programming on my ‘puter, this picture of H.R.H William crowned at his 2nd birthday, has been unavailable until now:

He was very pleased with the party, the cakes and all the guests, but he didn’t really get the point of unwrapping all the presents. The older children did most of that:D

Thank you Cheryl!
At two years and two months our William manages to ascend the slide in the garden and go down – which is sooo much fun:D – all by himself! And he is very proud of himself, and he has the right to be, it’s an achievement:

Boy has he grown Allaug. But such a handsome little fellow he is. Allaug.. he is going to have the girls chasing him when he gets older! LOL! So warn his parents ahead of time! That way they can be prepared when the girls start knocking on the door to see their son! Hugs

I haven’t been on the forum for quite a while, so my thanks to Stormy and Linda comes a little late!
Here I am on the island again, and I haven’t seen William for several weeks. Yesterday, however, “the other grandparents” phoned me and said they would come to visit Hubby and me the second week of July, taking William along:) ๐ I can’t wait!
In the meantime, here is a picture of our Hero, with a cool touch frolicing in possibilities of play the winter offers:

He went home again last Friday, and now we won’t see him again until he has had the honour of becoming a BIG BROTHER!

I called my daughter-in-law up to-day to congratulate her on her birthday, and William tried to give me his toy boat through the phone. It turned out that it was far more easy to give it to “the other” grandpa, who was sitting next to the play pool.
My daughter-in-law said that she was so heavy with child now, that she could hardly stand on her feet, and she felt that “Girlie” was eager and ready to pop her head out to take a look at the world (the rest of her would certainly follow easily:p )
I’ll keep you posted!:D

Yes, yesterday it happened!!
“Girlie” came at 7.32 a.m., just two hours after her parents left home, heading for the hospital. It was such a stroke of luck that she decided to arrive so early in the morning, because if they had left home at 7.32 they would have been caught in the morning rush-hour, and even though they probably would have made it to the hospital in two hours anyway, they would certainly have been completely stressed out:eek:
“Girlie” has no “official” name as yet, but like her brother William, she was 48 cm long and weighed 3200 grammes, almost 500 more than her brother!
Since we are 250 kilomeres away from our new granddaughter, it is physically impossible for us to take her photograph, and both her father and grandfather in Oslo are obviously too busy to have time to e-mail us any of the ones they – hopefully – have taken yesterday. But I promise to share the best with you all as soon as I have “seen” her myself.
Hubby and I are going to Oslo to meet her and the rest of the family in about 10 days. I’m certainly looking forward to it!

Thanks Cheryl and Jim!
I spoke with William and his parents on the phone to-day (William still only makes sounds, but very cute ones, mind you!) and I can hardly wait one more week before I see them and “Girlie” (still no name decided) – but of course, my island is a wonderful place…..:( -

and, at three weeks, “Little Sister” blissfully smiling in her pink blanket:

I’m here on the island until October 15th, so there will be ample time for you all to appreciate these captions before I’m in a position to post new photographic information
