I have two favorite drivers in this past race that were out front and I really enjoyed watching them race each other. Harvick and Birthday Boy Jammie McMurray. The think the number of single wins this year is going to make the Chase very interesting!

That might be a great move for Vickers. With the other 3 at Hendrick (Gordon, Kyle Busch, and Jimmie Johnson) it might be tough on him to step up and shine the way he wants to.

I feel sure he will catch a ride. He just needs to get out from under the shadows.

OK for those that are changing to another method don’t go with mine. I took out all the rookies first. LORD only knows why! Then I took out a few more drivers that drove cars number was over 30. Then I divided those car numbers by two. You doing the math here? That gave me 15 picks. I put #20 second because I did not want him to win. He is on my Sister’s list of favorites! I don’t know and don’t care where the next race is run. I just have the need for speed here! So here is my list….wonder how good I would do if i turned it upside down? Oh maybe the next time!

WOW… I had a great week, and I didn’t find out until today !! My week at the Outer Banks of NC was interrupted by Tropical Storm Alberto. We got plowed with rain nearly everyday. The scouts did not behave like scouts should. It was a bad week.

Hi all,

Life has gotten away from me lately – we are packing to move and I have been completely overwhelmed by all that has to be done…not to mention the exhaustion at the end of the day. In 10 days we begin our 2600 mile drive to New Mexico so I am not going to be able to participate any longer – at least for a while. We do not expect to have a place to live until mid August, so I will not have my household goods (i.e. the computer) until that time. I enjoyed the first race but I will have to try and jump in again next time.

Jethro Thanks for posting my picks for the weekend. I think I do better when you post them than when I post them! LOL Thanks for doing the extra work of keeping scores and doing the math. I have enjoyed this message board. Takes my mind off my GBS.

I don’t think many of you know that I attend races at our local track on the weekends. I was really worried about being around the noise after having a bad experience of being right under a church bell at noon. I had just been out of the hospital a few months and was treating myself for a fish sandwich during Lent. I got there right as the bells started. That set off vibrations that were not pleasant. Come out an hour later and it was one o’clock. Talk about bad timing! LOL I was standing right under the bell as it rang. Was not as bad as 12 rings for noon!

While at the race track I have been using ear plugs and being careful to not get around too much loud noise. I have been doing pretty good until this past weekend. It was after all the races were done and I went into the pits to congratulate the friends and family members that race. The final race winner was entering the pits and I heard him coming and as he rounded the corner I could see him. He reved his engine setting off a vibration from my tail bone to the top of my head…felt like sparks traveling up my spine! It made my feet smack the pavement pushing me up in the air 6 inches. As I did that I pulled my head down into my shoulders to try and stop the pain. I am sure he is still wondering what I was trying to do! I looked like a turtle without a shell!

kit, i can see you doing that turtle squat to stop the vibes.;) you have more guts then i do. i haven’t been to a race since last year. i did go to a burnout last year, it made my skin go crazy, i had goose bumps in 80 degree weather! might try it tomorrow though. have a great 4th! i found a shell for you, and its crocheted too!:)

Andrea, you won’t have ANYTHING in Jersey, not even a road to drive on, or a place to stay, or any lights after dark, the way things are going there!!!:rolleyes:

Talk about being in a FOG! Gang I am going to back out of this message board. I am not going to participate in the Race to the Chase or is it the Chase to the Race? OK I am not going to play this game any more! I am taking my tires home! We were going to do some work on the Cam in the race car and just get the dust off it. I shiney car is a fast car! Instead Friday night we got pounded on all four sides and were in a wreck knocking us out of 8th place. All of our attention has been to get the car ready for Friday! I forgot to post my picks and should not have to make anyone responsible for posting my pick constantly! I think NASCAR will create a situation that makes a tie for 10th. With no tiebreaker in place, both drivers will get in. They tried to knock Kahne out with the speeding penalty last week (ahem……) Now they are forbidding networks from displaying telemetry on pit road. They can dish out speeding penalties as easy as they need to. also “aggressive driving” penalties.

With all those tools at their disposal, a tie is not out of the question.

I just wonder how hard they are putting their foot down at drivers meetings now….. The Calif. race seemed quite “tame” compared to others.

It will be interesting to watch this week’s race

I hope both Kasey Kahne and Dale Jr. make it in the chase. So maybe Jeff Gordon could move out of the way?!?! It will be some race to watch 😮

fair or not, I guess what I really wanted to get across last night was maybe you should have given us an option, take a vote or something to see how everyone felt abt how to do the scoring for last week. u just went ahead and scored it. The board being down and such and such time, and someone just not posting their picks are 2 different things.
Like u said yesterday you never post that early, and you know that me, dave, and dick dont either, unless dick has scout trip.

I would like to make a suggestion that we lighten up. This is just for fun. I am very thankful for what Jethro has done for us the past couple of years and trust his judgment. I’m just ready to go racing! 🙂

I think what is important is to be here for everyone that has come here for information for their loved ones that have just come down with this awefull and scarey illness. Please take time to post or open some of the threads that have help you the most. As we know energy is a precious resource and we need to conserve and use patience to heal. Stress works against your body and the healing process.
Jethrow, Thank you for all the help you did to keep this formum going to give me a place to chill. Our track has shut down for the Winter. In our class it got serious toward the end of the season and we ended up 10th. Trophey will be given out at the Banquet in November! I wish I had time to share with you all some or the frustrating and crazy things that went on with my body at the races. I could write a book on GBS at the race track!! Odors, Noise and Vibrations made my experience a battle, but every Friday Night was well worth it! This month we are going to experiment with other race tracks in the area that are ignoring the weather. Whole new learning experience when the fans, pit crew and driver and tires are all cold! Enjoy this game as much as I have enjoyed it watching who everyone picked! It has been very entertaining but a lot of work for those in charge and keeping the points for us each week![/FONT] 😎

I am sorry I haven’t gotten back to the forum before now. I tried to post last week at 1:07 AM Sun. MOrning, and stayed online checking back until about 2:30. I tried to post again before Sunday morning, and was unable.

A couple of points.

I always understood the rules to have the previous weeks picks apply if picks were not made. The problem here is that the forum was down, and not our fault. But on the other hand, picks could have been made earlier. Some weeks I need to make them before a scout outing, on Friday sometimes. I think it is consistent with our rules to use the previous weeks selections for those who did not make theirs, for whatever reason.

By the way, we can always throw out the score if it isn’t any good. We are discarding 3 scores out of 10 for this segment.

Every now and again bad stuff happens. Let’s do good this week.

I hope “The big one” doesn’t take out my racers this week.

My understanding with Mark Martin was that he wanted to do some racing, but not a full schedule. Jack Rousch didn’t have a ride to allow him to do that. I think Rousch needs to keep his rides fulltime and committed so that NASCAR won’t have an excuse to limit him back to 4 teams instead of 5. Rousch won’t fuss anyway because Martin decided to stay this year and keep the #6 car running again. I think it is a great decision for all concerned. Front Row Joe, hasn’t been on his game for the last couple of years, and it is time to get a developmental driver in there. Martin for half the year, and a rookie the rest of the way.

My heart sunk watching the last lap as I was sooooo happy for Jr. What a friggin’ drag. I’m wearing a #8 t-shirt today (Monday’s are my casual day at work) and I’m wearing it proudly!

i feel for jr also. he is my fav, so i had a problem seeing both jr and jimmie wreck. i yelled out while watching it with my aunt at my parents house and my mom came running thinking i had a big problem-oopps sorry mom, didn’t mean to be soo loud!:o 🙂

That’s right, you don’t invite the guy into the meetings, and then fuss at him when he spins you out. I think BVickers spun out Johnson, didn’t want to get Earnhardt. He Talked about how he won the race for Ricky , the son who died in the plane crash, not the dad who owns the bunch of all cars. I think he expressed himself quite clearly.

He might not finish the race in Charlotte ………
