I too have a problem of something in my throat and have seen an ENT and a gastroenterologist. The Neurosurgeon does not feel that it is the CIPD but the other two specialists say it does and is a mtility problem. I choke on foods occasionally due to it. I also am losing my hair all of a sudden.

Allergist and neuro and Gp have been ‘working on me’ in this quarter and all I can say is? When I go to the dentist? I tell them I’ve a VERY HEALTHY ‘GAG REFLEX!’ Antihistemines, decongnstents, biotene and cepacol spray are my friends. Use wisely and all with caution is all I’ve got to say…
Yes, IT could be CIDP? and my Allergist, dentist and GP do keep ‘track of this’ somehow.. It’s one of those ToBeDetermined kind of things… Sorry it’s not more specific? But we are HUMANS! We are not hot house flowers grown in a contained environment.
Scary prospect? But real at the same time. Learn more about your ‘environment’? And, maybe you can ideally, cross more possible ‘contributors’ off YOUR list?
Hope and hugs! -

Hello
I had the problem of “something stuck in my throat quite often.”
Please go to the dr and have them check your thyroid. It takes a bblood test.
I had problems with swollowing things, and some pain in my throat.
It turned out I had thyroid cancer!
So please insist on getting your thyroid check. -

Well there seem to be a few of us that are having problems/concerns with our throats.
I hope more people will chime in, it is interesting…. I thought I was losing it!
Yes I will go get my thyroid checked again,
Thanks for the replies so far,
Another question, are you all taking gabapentin(neurontin)

I am constantly, & I mean constantly clearing my throat! It always feels like I have phlegm in my throat, forcing me to swallow a lot as well. At my worst, back in 2002 I had nerve damage to my vocal cords & also had difficulty swallowing, even my pills. It took me forever to eat & I still eat slowly, as I have choked a number of times. I never had this before CIDP, so I know it is related. I talked on the phone to a woman named Donna recently who also has a severe case of CIDP, & she noticed how much I had to clear my throat, said she has to do the same. I think it is residual damage to my nerves in my throat.

Please do not go on just a blood test for your thyroid. I had my blood drawn and it showed normal levels of my thyroid and my neuro was still puzzled why I had symptoms of thyroid problems, so he had a ultrasound of my thyroid and it came back with the diagnosis of multi nodular goiters. So, don’t go by what the blood work shows.
