Well mine has been very quiet other than the Thunderstorm that went through this morning. I haven’t felt very good anyway, I seem to stay tired most all the time. I think that may be due to the neuropathy & the lyrica, I didn’t feel much like traveling today. I think the rest of my family must be spending the day at home, the cost of the gas has a lot to do with this. Oh well I’m just going to enjoy my day off & the 3 day wknd. We had beautiful weather today, only a few clouds and 95°, great to listen to music in the Old Town, rock, blues, have a beer, slurp a fruity shake, and most of all watch the people. Happy 4th!

We had a wonderful 4th of July here in northern MN, thanks for asking. The temps were in the upper 70s, just perf, with a beautiful clear blue sky. We drove about half an hour to my uncle’s lake cabin where we enjoyed the day with about 75-100 relatives from my mother’s side. Everyone brings something to eat, so the food choices are out of this world. Most people in MN do spend the 4th at some lake as we have at least 12,000 of them. The younger people were swimming & being pulled around on a tube by a big boat.

I made sure to get my 12 hours of sleep last night & had the best time. Both of my siblings were there, as well as all 3 of my children & my grandson; a first since 2003… Just got back from watching our city’s fireworks at the end of my street, what a great way to cap off a wonderful day. Tomorrow we will spend the day at my sister-in-law’s mother’s lake home 15 miles away, just about 20 of us. It is supposed to be 85 degrees, so maybe I will even go swimming, as I haven’t been in a lake yet this year.

Norb,

My brother and his associates drove to Fort Collins, (I think it was Fort Collins?), to be part of some Wells Fargo promo parade…………he co-owns the original “stagecoach” that they use as advertisement. Anyway, him and his buddies hauled the “coach” and the team of horses all the way from Fort Worth, Texas to participate.

Hope all is well with everyone in the GBS/CIDP family and………………… Happy Birthday, USA :):)

Take care, be well… (in honor of Gene),

Dustdemon, it rained all day. Alot of events and cookouts were canceled.
I loved it for myself and husband. A local family owned restraunt had picnic meals for lunch and dinner on the 4th holiday. It was hamburgers, hotdogs, brautwurst and ribs with potato salad and chips.
No cooking, no mess, no clean up! It was great!
The rain did stop in time for fireworks that night.
Thanks for asking,
Shirley

Geez Norb – it looks like you had yourself a grand old time with the people watching.

The weather was beautiful here in southeast MI yesterday – about 71 degrees. Much warmer in the sun though. We bought some fireworks & sparklers & let them off for Emily. The fireworks for our lake aren’t for another few weeks. They put on a pretty good show.

It was wonderful here in Caldwell, Idaho. I got to pick up my 17 year old after a visit to california to see his dad. It is good to have him home!

We bought a bag full of firecrackers (my first time ever doing such a thing), we had fun with a couple of the neighbor kids lighting them up…was impressive until a neighbor brought out the “Good Stuff” and his made BIG booms and launched stuff in the air…while ours only sparkled on the ground LOL!). I took a few pictures and then sent my son over to his friends house to have fun.

We’re still celebrating here in Lake Charles, LA. Our annual Fishing Rodeo is held on the 4th of July. Since it’s a three day weekend this year, the festivities haven’t stopped. The 4th itself was taken up with picnics, a patriotic music concert by the Lake Charles Community Band and, of course, the big fireworks display over the lake that night.

We’re headed to the weighing scales later this afternoon, to watch some of the larger offshore boats come in, then down to Fred’s Lounge (dump bar) on the lake for our weekly Sunday afternoon gathering. My only problem with Fred’s these days is that when it was rebuilt after Hurricane Rita, building codes mandated that it had to be 12 feet off the ground. It takes me a while to get up those steps. The length of time it takes me to get down depends on how long we stay at Fred’s ::smile::

The fourth for me was going to my sisters house and all of her husbands side of the family was there. The kids swam all day…I swam for a minute but the water in her pool is still cold. She kept griping that the kids were splashing her as she tried to lay on her raft…or the kids were jumping too much or the kids were doing this or that…constantly griping and watching them like a hawk ready to attack. Connor was there with my 11 yr old step daughter and 4 and 18 mo old great nieces. The kids get on my sisters nerves…so do messes that come with big parties. She likes to have parties but doesnt like people there I guess. I dont know what the deal is.
I got pretty upset a few times. I was mad at my sister which led to a quarrel with my hubby and in the end, my 4th sucked. I realized it is the fourth year in a row that I have had a really rotten 4th. The first three years, my step daughter said some very harsh and unkind words that realllllllly hurt my feelings. I had to believe that it was her age and she didnt know better. I wont go in to all of it but one thing was when we were on our vacation over the 4th, Connor had gotten really sick with a very high fever. I told her I was very worried and that there was a chance we’d have to take him to the hospital. She told me…and I quote…”I hope Connor does get sick enough to go to the hospital then we wont have to worry about him here”. As any mother knows…that was a very wrong thing to say. She was 10 or maybe 9 and I’d like to think she didnt know what she was saying. She isnt crazy about her brother at all.
Anyway…so, that was that and the worst part is that the 4th is so close to my bday and sometimes we celebrate my bday during our 4th parties…
Four 4ths and four bdays…pretty shi**y. But, I am ok now .
Much better.
Last night we went to a big fireworks show that was just incredible…I took my son and stepdaughter, neice, and two great-neices. The kids loved it and it made up for the rotten day before.

Today the same group of us went swimming at the local private pool and it was a good time, too. I’m thinking it might be best to stay away from my sisters house and let her have her big ol pool all to herself and see if she’s happier that no small kids are there to splash. Isnt there a saying, “stay away from the water if you dont want to get wet ?”

She watched Connor three days in a row for me b/c daycare was closed…maybe she’d had her fill. She still invited us over today but I know she just didnt really mean it.

In the end, all is well. Hubby had surgery Thurs on his third torn meniscus in his knee…so, that’s why he wasnt with us so much.

Wow, I’ve really rambled…and I sure dont mean to be a bummer…I just had to vent….glad everyone’s had a pretty good holiday …

take care,
Stacey

Greetings, all.

Our 4th of July was rather quiet — but then it’s not really a holiday here in England! However, a number of our English friends (and a couple from Canada) sent us e-cards to express their good wishes.
