Acute-disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an inflammation in the brain and spinal cord that damages myelin. It is normally considered a central nervous system disorder. More about it here:
      https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/acute-disseminated-encephalomyelitis

There are rare instances when GBS, a peripheral nervous system disorder, has been reported in combination with ADEM. This combined central and peripheral demyelination can be very debilitating. More detail here:
      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3985372

Both diseases can be treated with IVIg, Plasma Exchange, and corticosteroids.
