Major surgery with CIDP

Has anyone experienced problems with major surgery/lengthy deep anesthesia/recovery? Has your constant high inflammation rate affected recovery? This whole topic has had very little study because CIDP is so rare, but here is one medical journal paper I found about managing anesthesia in CIDP patients:

The problem is that most surgeons have never heard of CIDP and have no idea that special attention must be given to CIDP patients. But the doctor I have seen about a possible shoulder replacement told me that my recovery would be unusually slow and difficult, my off-the-charts inflammation rate would interfere with healing, etc. He has urged me to go with pain management before risking surgery. BTW, I heal slowly from even small cuts and scrapes.
