Major surgery with CIDP

Has anyone experienced problems with major surgery/lengthy deep anesthesia/recovery? Has your constant high inflammation rate affected recovery? The problem is that most surgeons have never heard of CIDP and have no idea that special attention must be given to CIDP patients. But the doctor I have seen about a possible shoulder replacement told me that my recovery would be unusually slow and difficult, my off-the-charts inflammation rate would interfere with healing, etc. He has urged me to go with pain management before risking surgery. BTW, I heal slowly from even small cuts and scrapes.
