My husband was diagnosed with GBS Jan 2006. He had a quick recovery and has been symptom free. This last week, he has been having lower back pain. He didnt do anything to hurt his back. Could this be a residual, even though it has been about 2 1/2 years since he was dianosed. Just curious.

Hi. A lot of us had back pain during our bout with GBS. I still suffer from it but have never attributed it to GBS. I do know that right after my bout, of course I was weak and my muscles did not support me that well. My back would be sore even though I had not hurt it because my tummy muscles were weak and unable to support the back as efficiently as they should. If you are in any way concerned, please have this checked out by his dr.

      Good luck.

      Hi.
I also have had back pain. I will be seeing a neuro surgon in Sept. I also had an MRI and it showed a slipped disc. My doctor has had me on pain med for 4 months and the intensidy of the pain comes and goes. I at least will know what can be done and there are alot of treatments other than surgery. I feel it is worth getting an MRI and finding out what is causeing the pain.

Compressed nerves can also cause back pain. Might pay for him to see a back specialist and get checked out. CT Mylegram would showed compressed nerves. At least he would find out what is going on with him! That back pain can be aweful if it’s a major problem. I had 3 back disk and suffered two years! Hope he feels better soon!
