There is no text showing in your post. But to respond to the question in the title, ideally the attending neurologist finds the treatment schedule that gives the best result. In practice, this is influenced by insurance companies, or whoever is paying. IvIg is a limited and expensive resource.

I have been getting IVig off and on for about four years; sometimes once a month or even less frequently but the symptoms always come back. Now the neurologist ordered the infussions three consecutive days every other week. No explanation.

The neurologist should try to answer your questions, if yoy have any. Did he/she not?

The recurrence of symptoms has more to do with the particular case than with the treatment. CIDP is considered to be a chronic condition, and some persons diagnosed with it require continual periodic IvIg treatments. Others do not. The treatment must be individualized.
