CIDP or not

      Hi, all!

Have had buzzing, tingling and pain for aprox 2 y. I was dx cidp in jan 2006 after EMG showing slow nerve conduction velocities “sensorimotoric demyelating polyneuropathy”. CSF had elevated proteins 133/dl. Had 5 IVIG infusions during 1 week. No clear reaction.

Transferred to university clinic june 2006 they say “cidp criteria is not met”, no conduction block, no weakness, poor response to IVIG. They can´t give me any diagnosis, and no treatment, what shall I believe?

      /Bernie

I am certainly no expert on CIDP (just diagnosed myself) but it is my understanding as well that complete nerve blockages are part of the diagnosis. Is it possible that you have overlapping conditions, perhaps an inherited neuropathy on top of the CIDP? According to my neurologist, they are finding this routinely now — that people with inherited neuropathies are at high risk of autoimmune conditions.
