On my way to Vancouver Island we stopped in Bellingham and took a stroll at the waterfront.
I saw a guy launch his small sailboat and then I realized that he had no idea what he was doing…..so I got my camera ready!
…..and the result was what I expected.

Ken,
Great shots! I remember crewing with a buddy of mine on his sailboat during a race some years ago. Not only did we come in dead last but we pull the same stunt right in front of the docks where all the other sailboats were moored. I was forward securing the bowline when he came about. Guess who was on the port side when he turn starboard. After we capsized, I found myself sitting on the bottom determined that I wasn’t going to surface. Since I can not breath water, I eventually had to surface and face all the laughter.Jim C

Thank you all!
Jim, nearly everyone who has sailed has had an embarassing moment! The leg split then falling in at the dock is the most common……
This is me (believe it or not) in 1960 aboard our S-Boat – an all wood double-hulled 30-foot racing sailboat.
