Hi Drummer,

The KY speedway is actually located in Sparta, KY approx 10-15 mi N of Carrolton. I live about 45 minutes from the track, taking the back roads of IN, crossing the Ohio River at Madison, IN into KY and catching I-71 N at Carrolton. Now that Bruton Smith owns the track and all the law suits have been settled, I think we can expect to see a Cup race there within the next 2 years.

I think Dale, Jr gives everything he’s got every week, and if he had more he would have shown it. Most drivers are looking forward to the new spoiler vs the wing. For one thing it gives them more vision looking forward through the car in front of them (it will definately be a issue on the side of safety). The bump drafting is sort of an art…not everyone can do it right, or at the right time. I think it’s good for those that use it properly and adds to the excitement of racing.

My youngest son Roger (40) flew out to Texas Friday afternoon to be with his brother, Jim (42) and some friends. Jim lives in Los Angeles so they just get to see each other at a few NASCAR races and Christmas – Usually Las Vegas, the fall Bristol race, and they will usually schedule a 3rd one…pending their work schedules. Just wanted you guys to know that my right hip replacement was a complete success. I have my left hip replacement scheduled for June 16th. So, the operation will be June 16th, then I will be in Rehab about June 19th thru July 5th (3 full weeks). From there…when I fully recover from the hip operations, I will be looking at the right knee replacement, then the left knee replacement. I am tired of being in pain that isn’t necessary. I have a back condition that I have to live with because I was told by one of the best neuro-surgeons in Louisville that surgery was not an option – unfortunately I would have to live with my condition and involving pain.

However, I do not have to live with the pain from my hips and knees…and I plan to relieve those areas. My back and CIDP, and GBS residuals are enough for anyone to tolerate.

Thanks for listening and understanding my situation. You guys are great!

I listed all my prior and current afflictions on my Rehab form. The Admissions Coordinator thought my GBS story was unbelievable. She asked me if I could write a success story about my Rehab with my right hip and include my GBS complications, explain what GBS is, the treatments, what CIDP is, and keep the speech less than 15 minutes. I told her, “yes I can, and it would be an honor to be your guest speaker.” Today their Cooperate President, Vice Presidents, and many VIP’s were at the Rehab facility. And the “Guest Speaker – None other than Jethro himself.” There were a lot of Doctors there too, which made it even better. My speech went off “Great”, and I had all the Presidents, Vice Presidents, Dept. Heads, and many of the guest come to me and tell me what an amazing story that was. At the end I also mentioned that May was Guillain-Barre and CIDP Awareness Month.

Dear Friends, I have surgery this Wednesday, June 16th for my left hip replacement – I had the right hip replaced April 20th, and it was the worst of the two…and everything went very, very well! Hopefully, I will be in the Rehab Center by Saturday, and I will make my picks then, or I may make them this Tuesday with the option to change by Sunday 10:00 AM. Everything went well and I am once again back in the Sellersburg Health and Rehab Center, Sellersburg IN, approximately 10 miles N of Louisville, KY.[/COLOR][/SIZE] I am looking for about 3 weeks, then home.

I had problems getting on this Internet system yesterday. I am in one of the last room on one of the wings, and I am sure it is in their wireless system. I will keep everyone posted.

[SIZE=”3″][COLOR=”Magenta”]By the way, I am home from the Rehab Center, and my left hip is doing great – I still have some pain in the muscles, but the strength and overall condition is really doing well. So, I now have both hip replacements – and in about another 4-6 weeks my left hip should be as good as my right that was replaced April 20th. It really took a lot of hard work in therapy, but nothing like when I recovering from GBS…that was the hardest therapy (work) I’ve ever done in my life – but it was my life I was working for.[/COLOR][/SIZE]

Anyway, both surgeries went well, both therapy sessions went well, and I have eliminated two very painful joints in my body. After complete recovery with my hips, I will have my knees replaced…hopefully around September.
