Reply To: Covid 19 Vaccine

I had gbs on 6/13/2013. Was left with severe axonal residual nerve damage all over but more so from waist down. I was very concerned about the COVID-19 vaccines and finally talked to Doctor Kazim Sheik neurologist at UT Houston who is on the GBS foundation advisory board. (I am a patient of his) Since my trigger was due to food poisoning he urged me to have the vaccine. Said that had my trigger had been a flu shot or similar would still recommend COVID vaccine but with closer monitoring. Complications for those afflicted with COVID-19 can be severe and or deadly esp for ones with pre existing health issues. I had my second Pfizer vaccine on April 5. No reaction at all then or since.
