NASCAR 2012 – Driver/Crew Chief Changes

Do you like NASCAR racing – would you like to pick 15 Drivers (1-15) and compete with other players?
Welcome! We are looking for NASCAR fans to join and play with our group. Here is how we play: Before each race we all pick 15 drivers that we think will come in the top 15; and we also pick them in the order we think they will finish (1 Through 15).

SCORING: The scoring is based on 10 points for each driver picked that finishes in the top 15, plus a 7/5/3 bonus, plus another 7 point bonus if you pick the winning driver. For each position you pick correctly (ex: you pick no. 18 to finish 5th and that driver finishes 5th) you get 7 bonus pts; within one position (ex: you pick 18 to finish 5th and that driver is either 4th or 6th) you get 5 bonus pts; and within two positions (ex: you pick 18 to finish 5th and that driver is either 3rd or 7th) you get 3 bonus pts. So, just on driver no. 18, you would get 10 pts if he finished in the top 15, and if he finished 5th, you would get a bonus of 7 pts or a total of 17 pts; if he finished 4th or 6th, 15 pts; if he finished 3rd or 7th, 13 pts.

WE HAVE 4 SEGMENTS: Segment 1 covers the first 13 races, and the best 8 scores will be used; Segment 2 covers the second 13 races, and the best 8 scores will be used; Segment 3 covers the CHASE, or last 10 races and the best 7 scores will be used; And there is an Overall winner, using all scores, Segment 4.

RULES: We are not cut-throat, but do have some very simple rules: All picks must be posted here by 10:00 AM Race Day. NOTE: Your post MUST BE PRIOR TO THIS FORUM’S 10:00 AM TIME RACE DAY. Your time will probably be at least one hour behind this Fourm’s time, especially if you are in the Central/Pacific Time Zones. I think this Forum’s time zone is EST.

2. If anyone has a driver picked twice and someone notices it – they may post and notify that person (ex: 1. Jimmy Johnson, 7. Jimmy Johnson). That person edit their post and change drivers in any position. However, if it is after 10:00 AM they may replace another driver IN ONE OF THE POSITIONS but can not change other drivers or their positions – They have until the RACE STARTS to make that change. If not changed, IN THIS EXAMPLE, Jimmy Johnson would be scored in the no. 1 spot (first picked). OR if anyone has a position posted twice (ex: 7. Jeff Gordon, 7. Ryan Newman) this would be 16 drivers – The same rule applies. That person would choose either Jeff Gordon or Ryan Newman at no. 7, but could not change other drivers or their positions. In this case, the first person chosen as no. 7 (Jeff Gordon) would be the choice and Ryan Newman would be dropped from the selection. I try to check everyone’s pick, and we try to watch out for each other…we want this to be a fun game, and the last 6 years that we have been doing this we have not had a problem that we have not worked out.

3. Everyone that signs up will be given my personal email address via personal msg – This is for emergencys…like if the Forum is down, or you can not access the Forum before the 10:00 AM Time, you can email your picks to me.

4. I will keep score, and post the scores. If you think your score is wrong, make a post. If there is a dispute, Dick and I will determine the score, or any other disputes.

OK, the most important information anyone can give you is that everything; Races, Drivers, Schedule, Tracks, Statistics, News, etc., is at www.nascar.com You need to study this web site for the latest driver changes and team announcements. And the most important information, after qualifications, it gives the entry list for the race.

The first race is The Daytona 500 – Feb 26th. But, here are some events you may want to watch:
The Bud Shootout: Sat, Feb 18th (FOX) 8:00 PM
Daytona Qualifications – Sun, Feb 19th (FOX) 1:00 PM. This will determine positions 1 & 2 for the race, plus set field for the Twin 150′s.
The Twin 150′s Thur Feb 18th (SPEED) 2:00 PM. The 1st 150 – Will be for qualifiers no. 1-3-5-7-9 etc, up through 43, all odd numbers. The 2nd 150 – Will be for qualifiers no. 2-4-6-8-10 etc, up through 42, all even numbers.
The Twin 150′s – will be for the starting positions 3 – 43, based on qualified drivers finishing positions and qualifing times (1 & 2 are locked from Feb 19th qualifications), and depending where the first 35 cars in points from 2011 finish.
ANY QUESTIONS?
Jethro

NOTE: YOU MAY SIGN-UP NOW, BUT DO NOT POST YOUR DRIVER PICKS Because the entry field has not been determined.
I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED AS WE GET CLOSER TO THE STARTING DATES!

Things are moving along. You may want to make note of the following dates of interest:
– Feb 17th Fri 5:00 PM NSCS BUD SHOOTOUT Practice SPEED
– Feb 17th Fri 6:30 PM NSCS BUD SHOOTOUT practice SPEED
– Feb 18th Sat 11:00 AM NSCS Daytona 500 Practice SPEED
– Feb 18th Sat 2:00 PM NSCS Daytona 500 Practice SPEED
– Feb 18th Sat 8:00 PM NSCS BUD SHOOTOUT FOX
(Will set the Gatorade Duel lineups – Odd number finishers 1,3,5, etc. will be in Duel race 1. Even no’s in race 2)
– Feb 19th Sun 1:00 PM NSCS Daytona 500 Qualifications FOX
(Will secure 1st & 2nd starting positions-Regardless)
– Feb 23rd Thur 2:00 PM NSCS Gatorade Duel 150’s SPEED
(The winner of each race will make the race)
– Feb 23rd Thur 8:30 PM Bud Shootout Selection position SPEED
– Feb 24th Fri 11:00 AM NSCS Daytona 500 Practice SPEED
– Feb 24th Fri 12:30 PM NSCS Daytona 500 Practice SPEED
– Feb 25th Sat 10:30 AM NSCS Daytona 500 Final Practice SPEED
– Feb 26th Sun 1:00 PM NSCS DAYTONA 500 FOX
NOTE: There will be 43 cars in the field-The first 35 cars in points from 2011 will be in the race. Assuming the 2 fastest qualifiers will be in the 35 car field, this leaves 8 cars to fill the entry field. The 2 winners from the Duels cuts that to 6 cars-So the racing should be furious to get both qualifying speed and racing positions. Keep in mind that some of off those points with cars in the 35 points went with the trades. So some of those Drivers in different cars are in the 35 car group. And there are several out there.

Jethro,
if it is just you and me, do you want to change any rules? I am happy and ready to go. The worst I can do is finish 2nd !!!

BTW, after watching the duels, the race should be interesting. see who can run 500 miles, not overheat, stay up front, and miss the three “big ones” in the last 15 laps.
