Fuzzy Math

I’m confused. Reading another thread, I saw that a total of 60 gms ivig is given in one day at a dose of 1mg/kg. So, here’s my thinking:

      1 gm = 1000 mg ivig

      60 gm = 60,000 mg ivig

      1 kg = 2.2 lbs

60,000 mg (total ivig) x 2.2 (wt converted into lbs) = 132,000 lbs (patient weight)

Where did I go wrong????? 😮 🙁

I thought typical dosage was 2g/kg ivig. In this scenario:

      132 lb patient = 60 kg x 2 (gms ivig) = 120 gms total – usually divided over 3 to 5 days for infusion.

      3 days = 40 gms per day
      5 days = 24 gms per day

      Help!

You can do math much better than I can! I mistyped my dosage! 😮 It is 1gm/kg that I get. My loading dose was 2 gm/kg. I weigh enough now…I wouldn’t want to be 132,000 lbs! 😮 Thanks for catching it! I will fix the other post.
