Weeks before getting GBS I had very painful problems with one finger and a thumb at separate times. They were so painful I thought I had unknowingly broke them. I could not bend or use them without pain, bought finger splints to wear. The pain did stop and it has not happened since.
Would like to know if others had problems such as this prior to GBS or CIDP.Thank you for any replys.

Shirley:
Looking back on things, I was having mild, intermittent symptoms for a number of years before things reallly started to go south for me in 2009. I was eventually diagnosed with CIDP in April of 2010. However, with hindsight, I can say the first real sign of serious trouble occurred on January 2, 2009. I awoke that morning with terrible pain, stiffness, and swelling in my right thumb. After a couple of days, the pain spread further into my hand and fingers. I thought I might have carpal tunnel syndrome and bought a splint to wear at night.Incredibly, a few nights later, the same thing developed in my left hand! I did carpal tunnel stretching exercises I found online, took a lot of Ibuprofen, and tried some ice and heat (the ice worked a lot better). After about a month or so the symptoms disappeared and have never returned. Little did I know what was coming next.:(
