I lost my father and grandfather to GBS within the last year and a half and am concerned about a genetic issue. I know my father contracted it after getting the flu shot, but my grandfather did not. Should I be worried for my family? I also wonder if anyone in the family should ever get the flu shot. Some members are required by their jobs to receive it and I want to tell them not to take it. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

GBS is not an inherited disease. There may be a genetic aspect to susceptibility to it, but if so it is very amsll. I provided a link to a document on this subject recently, and when I find it I will repost it here.
