Anyone else going to try the WiiFit?

After it was announced last year, I kept waiting for the WiiFit to ship. Amazon finally has it on pre-order for end of May shipment.

Finally, a way to measure and work on balance and strength training at home. I think this could be fantastic for people recovering from GBS.

I’m now two years post GBS and have been functioning “normally” for a long time. But I’ve been keenly aware that my recovery has been progressing in descending fashion: ankle strength has improved markedly in the last couple of months. Still can’t stand on my toes, or sprint, but I can jog again — which makes me aware of how weak the muscles in my feet are. I think the Wii is going to be a great tool for tracking the latter stages of recovery. Wish it had come out sooner!

Hopefully it will be available in stores. I have used the Wii for part of my therapy as it was a fun way to get moving. The kids and I could do it, of course the kids scores were always better but at least I could try! 🙂
