Music City Weather Report.
Well, I slept off and on till about 1:30 Pm, but I managed to take my meds and eat about 9am. I normally don’t sleep that late, but I was up till 3am worryin bout wat the weather would be today. It war hazy/rainy lookin out that thar winder. I finally had to put some britches on, cause it got down to 74 in here and I got cold. For that tho, I stuck my head out the door and it was warm and sweatie like. Yesterday we got some rain, it was a gully washer and trash mover. -

Hi, Captain Dave.
Here in London it’s sunny and hot (for us, anything over 73 is hot–it’s supposed to get to about 75 today). We desperately need rain, and it looks like we might get a bit tonight, which should also keep the temperature down a bit tomorrow.
Ah, well, back to work.

Had some rain last eveing so we were cooled down a little. Yesterday was in the 90’s, just gone on weather.com and it says its 86 now. Still feels too hot and humid for me. The kids are going outside to swim, but ๐ก dont have a cozzy (bathing suite for those who speak American english) that fits due to HEAVY weight gain ๐ .

Fireman Dave,
Weather for today? or tomorrow? or yesterday?
No matter… it’s all the same – high 90’s, humid with south winds 10-20 mph. I’m sweating and having a bad hair day (yesterday, tomorrow and today too).
We need some more rain as we very low on the rain guage (can’t remember the amount). I usually water my front bushes & stuff every night if I can.

Fort Belvoir, VA checking in…
Warm and humid with no clouds – – our temperature gauge outside reads 82 in the shade at 11am. Going to be a sticky day.
Had plans to go the National Zoo today with my kids but I’m having problems dealing with the humidity today…it has the nerves in my arms and legs acting up (does this happen to others?) Maybe tomorrow will be better…

Dave,
Granite Falls NC first day of summer and the next one too., It is so hot it is getting hard to breathe. 95, 96. Too hot for me.Luckily this afternoon a round of thunderstorms came in and watered my tomato plants. My attitude is cooler than it is outside !!

Today is 89 and overcast. There are fallen trees and ripped off siding, damaged buildings and cars here at the moment. Had a HUGE storm last night at about 10 and knocked out our power at about 10:30 last night, power came back at 12 this afternoon. We have well water, and are on a septic, so when the electricity is out, we cant even get water, soo…… in preparation for a friends birthday lunch out today, I swam (in place of shower), brushed my teeth with bottled water, couldnt blow dry my hair and made up in a rather dark bathroom (because it was overcast) ๐ฎ ๐ฎ . Oh we are such girls!!!! Thank goodness the electricity is on again, how I miss the modern comforts. I believe some of the same again tonight.

Dear Friends:
In Oregon and 85 degree day is considered pretty hot. Today it got close to 100 so all the Oregonians wilted in the heat. We usually only get one or two days inthe 90’s in a summer, and we’ve already had three this year. At least in Oregon it cools off to the low 60’s at night, which is so much better than the Midwest or the South.

partly sunny, hot and humid. chances of rain everyday, due to the heat of the sun and the high humidity. supposed to get into the 90s all weekend long. now i wish we didn’t have a solar cover on the pool….its too heavy for me to get off and its underwater from all the rain we’ve had this past week…has added over 3 inches of water to the pool-its actually flowing over the sides now.

well more rain came and now the winds are destroying some trees, homes and just 1 1/2 miles away a funnel cloud was spotted and might have touched down-causing all the destruction in a nice path just north of me. what a mess around this town-with all the rain the last 3 weeks we are more then saturated and the ladies golf tourney is going to be playing in a swamp-the creeks that go thru the course and thru town are raging rivers and even went over the roads at the bridges today again. i would like some sun for the next 3 months to dry us out abit!!!!:)

Slightly overcast–although i think it is just a thick layer of humidity. it will be in the 90s today, extrememly high humidity level and chance of severe thunderstorms -as usual. the sun peaks through enough to make it a hot one!
I’m ready for 70 degree weather again!!! at least today we have a 1 mph wind!

To quote the BBC:
“Roads have been melting in parts of England as the heatwave across most of the country continues.
“Gritting lorries have been sent out to spread crushed rock dust on melting tar to create non-stick road surfaces.
“Monday was the year’s hottest day so far with a reading of 32.7C (90.9F) at Heathrow. Forecasters say temperatures could be 37C (99F) later in the week.
“The average maximum temperature in England for this week in July is only 21-23C (70-73F).” (link deleted by Administrator)
I’m thinking of moving to Iceland.

Oh, and the AC isn’t working well at work – my office is probably over 80. It’s a challenge to find clothes that I think might be breathable but look okay – I work at a fancy country club. My shoes are off and feet are swelling up nicely *sarcasim* Friday it is supposed to get 110. This is just miserable. September Outlook
Updated: Wednesday, August 16, 2006 7:31 PM
Here is the AccuWeather.com outlook for September temperatures and precipitation. I don’t think we are going too far out on a limb by forecasting above to much above temperatures in the nation’s midsection with a continuation of drought conditions in the southern Plains. This has been the pattern pretty much all summer, and it is kind of like predicting that baseball teams in Kansas City and Pittsburgh will finish below 500. Expect near-normal temperatures elsewhere with the exception of northern New England where temperatures are forecasted to be a little below seasonal norms. The Southwest will be dry, while above-normal precipitation is in the forecast for Florida and eastern New England.

I give up… it’s going to be 105 today with our mold count going way up with the little bit of rain we do get the other day. The weatherman is teasing us with saying next week it will only be in the high 90’s. We are close to beating some old, old records of the number of days over 100. I think we are at about 5th on the list for the record, over 30 some days… days of hell! ๐ก

Very eerie looking sky. Blue sky and sunshine in the far east but a dark solid cloud cover moving in fast from the west, now covering almost 3/4 of the sky. It is supposed to be 72 today dropping to the 40ies and 30ies the rest of the week, freezing at night. Forecasts for 18 inches of snow in the “high country”. i.e. the mountains to the west of us, not very far from here.
-
AnonymousOctober 18, 2006 at 6:27 pm
Cheryl, I missed the good shots this morning. The foothill mountains turned brown again this p.m. and so did the the big field across from us. The only place left with a few inches of snow is our backyard and the porch. That doesn’t make good shots. From where we live we can’t see the peaks of the Rockies which will stay snow covered til spring. We see them in the distance on our weekly trips to Denver, though. Beautiful sight.
But I’ll take some pictures next time. And there are always the holidays we will spend right in the mountains at Breckenridge. One of our sons (from Connecticut) rented a cottage and lots of family will be there from Texas, Oklahoma and the ones in Denver, a total of 9 adults and 6 children. Only problem, I probably won’t have internet and have to wait til we get back with sharing photos.

Some white clouds, otherwise blue sky, a bit chilly.
Cheryl, yes, we love it here. Ft. Collins is rated one of the top cities to retire. In 2000 after I retired we took a three months road trip with our camper: starting out in Oklahoma, on to Colorado, Yellow Stone, entire west coast and ended up picking Fort Collins when we returned. After that we went into the Peace Corps in Thailand. We had to cut it short because Carol had an accident (OK now). We settled here, build a house, rented it out 4 months later, and went back to Thailand, mostly for the adventure and needing closure. Being able to pay off the mortgage faster was our official excuse. ๐ 2 1/2 years later Carol’s son put pressure on us because he wanted his mom and grandparents for his kids closer. He paid off the rest of the mortgage. So, here we are.
Sorry I was rambling telling our crazy story ๐
P.S. Sydney will be here tomorrow for a few days ๐ Her dad is going to continue finishing our basement.

This Wednesday in OKC it is 62 with little spits from the sky. It is supposed to get to around 72 today and tomorrow. Oh and maybe big storms tomorrow with MAJOR winds around 50 mph. We never did have a big storm season this year, so it may be coming late?!?!
It has been rather cold here a few days and a light frost a couple of mornings. So this warmer weather is real nice!

Dark clouds here in Denver, temp in the fifties, 6-8 inches of snow predicted. The eastern sky was blazing red this morning, another predictiion of storms coming.
Can’t rely on the weather man. Yesterday it was supposed to be 70 back home in Fort Collins, CO, but it only reached low sixties.

Totally grey sky. It’s been snowing all night coming down heavily. So far 5 inches, up to 9 expected by noon. Branches are getting loaded down and many are breaking off. My son-in-law had to go outside several times to clear the snow off branches pushing on the power line coming to their house. It’ll be 60 this weekend and alll the snow will be gone again. This is typical for the Colorado front range.
After I get dressed I might try to take a picture for you, Cheryl.

Blue sky is back, just a few wisps of clouds in the west, pretty chilly, 30 low, 65 high. Surprise: there is no snow here at home. The snow storm we just had in Denver missed Fort Collins, 60 miles north, completely.
On the way back we stopped and took pictures of the mountains.

Wonderful fall day, partly cloudy, 49 , 20ies at night. Fall colors will be gone soon in this part of the country.
Just now noticed the beautiful fall colors (I am not very observant, Carol would comment) of our bushes and the aspen tree with its yellow leaves in front of our house. I took a picture just in time before strong winds started blowing leaves off the tree. The bush in the middle is a Crimson Barbery and the one on the right Anthony Waterer Spirea. The two green bushes on either side of the barbery are evergreen Mugo Pines. The low bush next to the pine is Blue Carpet Cedar.

For several days now the weatherforcast people have told us here in the Oslo area that we would get as much as 7 to 8 inches of snow on Tuesday (to-day), and they told everybody who hadn’t changed their summer tyres to the winter equvivalent, to let the car stay home because the driving conditions would be dreaqdful! This created completely chaos everywhere they change tyres for a living, and during the week-end you could see people crouching by the side of their car with jacks and wrenches all over the place.:D
BUT: The winter-wonderland that was forecast is still but a dream\nightmare because of\thanks to Global Warming – the rain is pouring steadily down. ๐ฎ

Spokane, WA, looking at a high of 35 degrees and a low of 16. I’m freezing and so jealous of all those nice warm temps.
It is the most stunning autumn day today. The trees all around are bright yellow, red and orrange and the temp is just perfect. I love days like these!
I can just imagine the fall colors in areas like yours from the times we lived in PA, MN and NC. Not too many trees here in the Rocky’s foothills.

Pittsburgh, PA Clear, 34ยฐ (Brrrrrrrrr) Frost on the car this morning!
Turning partly cloudy (which means it could go either way they are guessing!)High of 42ยฐ Low of 26ยฐ Lake effect snow could produce an inch of of the white stuff!
Oh to be in Phoenix, Arizona at the SYMPOSIUM this weekend! Have a GREAT time there! Take pictures!

I woke up to 23 degrees and frost on the Pumpkin! The high today is going to go clear up to 40 degrees! Lake effect snow is just North of us. We might get to see it this afternoon. Brrrrrrr The rain and wind has removed most of the leaves from our trees. Starting to watch the skies more. All the clouds look so much heavier like they are full of $n*w just waiting to fall.

AnonymousNovember 3, 2006 at 11:12 am
Sun is peaking thru the clouds. low last night was in the low 20s, high today in the low 40s-just a bit warmer then yesterday! last night we had a few snow showers roll through-only left a dusting on the ground. i guess i’ll have to wait a few more days to see a few inches of that beautiful white stuff!:)

Vmac, saw the flooding on the news. Did it affect you at all? Yes, it’s moving our way. But today another wonderful fall day here, blue sky, just a few lonely clouds, 70 , same tomorrow. But after that the temps will plummet. Better get outside and get that fence sprayed. Just don’t feel like it. Keeping my balance may be a problem.

AnonymousNovember 7, 2006 at 1:18 pm
Hey Norb,
Lots of water around. Our house is fine, but there are streets closed around us. I stayed home last night, just to avoid problems. Driving to work instead of riding my bike. My balance is bad enough. I don’t need any help falling off.
Beware. this thing is going to eventually move east and dump tons of snow. -

Hi Dave, We, her in western Washington would be happy to share. At my home in Olalla (on the Olympic Peninsula), we had over 11 inches of rain between 11/2 and 11/6. That made up for 4-5 months of drought–both fairly unusual conditions here. Have a happy… Kathy K.

AnonymousNovember 8, 2006 at 4:29 pm
Hi Kathy,
It’s starting to calm down on the southern end of the state. How are things with you? So far we’ve avoided any flooding in the house, but the daughter in Longview has water in her daylight basement. Hope it calms down soon. Maybe I’ll see you on the penninsula one of these days. -

As if all the rain and flooding weren’t enough, now we’re locking things down for a really BIG wond storm with the rain. Gusts up to 80 tongiht. Hubby is down on his ship, holding it down. and I”m trying to think of all the things around here I can secure. He needs to help me with the driveway canopy. I’ll let you know how we weather!!

Beautiful day today, mostly blue sky. It’s supposed to warm up to 70 (21 Celsius) by Wednesday. You figure, it’s almost the end of November.
And snow flurries in the East, Cheryl?
Daniela, wished I could send you some of our sunshine (300 or so days a year). Do you use Celcius in the UK?
-
AnonymousNovember 22, 2006 at 11:42 pm
Getting to be boring, sunshine again, 60ies high (16 Celsius for you across the pond)
Daniela, no thanks, fog and rain, how depressing that must be – or does one get used to it? You should plan a vacation here to get the sunshine. Just bring suntan lotion. The sun is very intense in these elevations.

Dense FOG weds night, on and off all day thursday and dense fog tonight. we didn’t make it up to 55 degrees like we were supposed to! the fog was too thick, the sun wasn’t seen for more then 30 secs. tonight we have black ice all over along with the fog which is wrecking havoc on the roadways, had a 15 car pile up just south of here tonight.:( ๐ฎ only 3 minor injuries-could have been alot worse.

Partial clouds, sky is often strange here at the front range. Clouds are overhead but along the horizon esp. above the foot hills, the sky is all blue. I suspect it’s because winds blowing down from the mountains. Around 50 the next few days, 20ies at night. Hasn’t rained for a while and none is forecast.
P.S. Just a few hours later: no clouds left for the rest of the day.

It’s beautiful here, too with the first big snowfall of the year. Everything is white and brite. 15 high, -2 low (minus 9/minus 19 Celsius). Lots of accidents last night. A van packed with 14 illigal immigrants went off the road on I-70 going through the mountains. 4 were killed.
The flag in the picture still shows wind from the NW

I got the day off today and wonder about tomorrow as it has been doing winter stuff for 24 hours. Schools are already closed tomorrow. I braved going out once today to feed the birds and they gobbled it up very fast – even with my Tigger constantly jumping at the window. Oh, it is 17 degrees out with a NNW at 25 with gusts and snow is still falling.

So you are finally getting snow, Cheryl. Great. Maybe you’ll have a white Christmas after all.
It warmed up a bit and some of the snow is melting. Supposed to go up to fifty. Typical for the Colorado front range.
It’s 91 in Bangkok and 73 low, almost 80% humidity. This is the cold season in Thailand. ๐ And I sweat very easily. I am almost packed, shorts, thin short-sleeved shirts, sandals

Hello Liz…..yes same here…..very strange! Golf clubs have not been put away yet and no one has their shovels and salt ready! 61 today…but getting cooler to where they are calling for snow showers or flurries the beginning of the week! My friend in Anchorage has 5 feet of snow on the ground and temps below zero…..like -15 in the next day or two. The snow is up to the bellies of the Moose! When I come home last year in January on the 13th the temp was 74, we had all the windows open and the radio turned up and the sun roof open! I love the four seasons, how about you?

Well it’s cloudy, and cold here in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. We have not had any snow as of yet, and really don’t know whether it’s a blessing or not! I work at a big country club and we are closing down for the weekend today at 2. I’m sure Oklahoma City will be on the news. Pray our electricity stays on!!!

We are rather frozen in Oklahoma City and parts of the state are without power. The roads can’t even begin to be plowed (for the few plow trucks we have) because it is so frozen, solid, thick ice. Slid and slipped my way into work! Oh, its about 20 degrees outside. Brrrrrr.

We are preparing for another blast of something… they are saying anywhere from 6 inches to 10 inches of big fat snowflakes tonight and Saturday morning. We had snow last night, too, temp just below freezing. I went to the door this morning to let the dogs out. The black one, Harry, was wagging all over, prancing as I opened the door. He started to shoot out, then saw the white stuff and froze. The other dog, Jagooti, looked up at me, shook her head as if to say ‘Do you honestly think I’m going out there?’, and walked away. After five minutes of coaxing, I finally got both the dogs to go outside. Jagooti did what she had to do and hurried back in. Harry apparently found the snow interesting and spent ten minutes nosing it, pawing it, biting it. Finally he gave up trying to figure it out, and came bounding back inside, tracking snow everywhere.
May you have as much fun today as Harry did this morning, whether you understand it all or not.

The weather – has been lovely for early February -the sun shone through the windows at noon (hey, I slept late).
I actually found a reason to go outside – to wash the car. I do that regularly, twice a year. I discovered that the car is still red, not the faded pink I thought it was. I was so tired by the time I had finished washing it, removing the tar marks and the mud, that the inside did not get done and anyway, it was getting pretty cool by then. I had to turn the heating up indoors.
But February, in Ireland, being outside? I was surprised and I even wondered if the lawn mower still worked. Mind you, I did no more than wonder.
In other words, a lovely day.
God bless

Hi Dennis, No, thankgoodness my babe is smarter then that! but there are those kind of kids around here also!! just the other day i saw a kid riding a skateboard, in shorts, shoes and no shirt—in the winter with temps in the teens! if the kids wear that type of stuff to school now they are sent to the principle’s office and the parents are called and told to bring in warm clothes and they get in trouble if they do it again after that.
we are getting the snow now also. can’t wait until we get the thick, good snowball making type of snow!:) -

AAWWW come on Donna-its Great!! we are now back down to a level 2 snow emergency now, yesterday we had a blizzard! not more then 10 inches of snow but the wind is still blowing and the drifts are growing, and now the sun is shining-Nice Winter Day!!:) might get more snow this evening-wishing!! might go sledding this afternoon!:D

AnonymousFebruary 14, 2007 at 10:28 pm
OK Donna, you don’t need to shout. I can hear you. I’ve been there and by this time of the year I hated it too.
I guess you don’t want to hear about the wonderful sunshine here and 91 F later today, right now it’s 74. Later this week it’ll get bloody hot and probably stay that way for a few months this being the hot season. Then I probably wished I had some of your weather, at least for a few hours to appreciate the tropics more.

Got a lot warmer today, just above freezing, so at least some of the ice has started to melt – thank goodness. Got my car stuck on a mound of ice at the bottom of the driveway yesterday, but finally, with the help of some wonderful neighbors with a HUGE tractor, managed to dislodge my car and bring it back up to the top……

It was outright chilly ๐ this morning , 69 F or 21 C when we rode to the Luang Prabang (Laos) airport in an open three-wheeler. Back in Chiangmai it is a lot hotter, 102 by Wednesday. Glad to be back here, though, Laos was a bit much for me, my stamina is going downhill. ๐ฎ

Sunny and might go up to the lower 30s today. chance of rain/snow mix tonight—ohhh nooo, not my snow!! i’ve waited sooo long for this nice white stuff-don’t take it away!:(
norb just wait til you get home-if you think 69 is chilly! hope you can enjoy the next few weeks of your journey without too much energy drain. take care.

Well, Cheryl, I hope you enjoyed the white stuff while it lasted. But isn’t it time for spring soon? I always associate March with spring.
102 F today, and this is only the beginning of the hot season. Glad we’ll be out of here in 2 weeks. I get miserable if it is too hot, sweat like a pig.
-
AnonymousFebruary 21, 2007 at 3:54 pm
I’m ready for cooler climates myself, norb.;) today we had dense fog until 12 pm. now its sunny and in the upper 30s could top out in the mid 40s.:( at least my daughter and i got in a snowball fight yesterday, in the rain, and built snow sculptures for our dog to destroy, before all our snow disappears. by the time i’m rested from our playtime we will have snow again-monday!:D
-
AnonymousFebruary 21, 2007 at 4:34 pm
Spring has just about sprung here! But, they say don’t plant or garden until later March. It is absolutely gorgeous out – about 70 degrees, blue skies, very light breeze.
Now we get our tornadoes… Friday night into Saturday. I had better get my ‘hidey hole’ fixed up.

In the past 10 days, we have had near blizzard conditions, then 50 degree weather. This soon turned to sleet. Back to decent weather. Then foggy as could be. Two days ago with snow still on the ground, it was thundering and raining. Today, back to blinding snowfall.
Love this midwest weather! “If you don’t like the weather here, wait a day and it’ll change.”

we have a slightly different saying here in Toledo area-If you don’t like the weather just wait a minute. the wind is always changing directions on a dime here, and today the snow got in on it also.:) last night we had a few thunderstorms and lightning roll through, along with alot of rain. still have flood watches and wind advisory up tonight.

Hi from the middle of Ireland,
Well, the crocus came out. We had a lovely Spring day a couple of weeks ago. The daffodils came out in bloom.

Looks like we will be living up to our name here in Oklahoma City as ‘Tornado Alley’. ๐ฎ Luckily, we escaped tornadoes last night, but it looks like there is another round on its way right now. Time to duck and cover! And get used to not watching any local network TV unless you want continuous live coverage of a tornado anywhere in the state. We have drinking games for this kind of weather and the TV coverage. :p
Oh, the temps are real nice in the 60’s and we had an inch of rain this morning (which we desperately needed).

Poor timing. I teach and today is the first day of “spring” (I use that term loosely) break. 28 degrees when I woke up. The weather man promises we’ll break 32 by noon. Big deal, no sun and my lawn is needing a trim.

Boring, boring, boring here in San Diego. We’ve got a pretty narrow definition of weather here: 68-70 is normal, anything above 75 is a heat wave, and below 66 you’ll see people frantically yanking wool sweaters out of the back of their closets for a chance to wear them.
Here in Coastal San Diego County we’re experiencing our typical May-Grey/June-Gloom trend. Shhhhhhh! It’s a secret we don’t want to alert the “zonies” to (Az tourists). But during these months the desert starts heating while the ocean is still cold, resulting in a dense fog cover right on the coast almost every day. It’s miserable and makes us all in a bad mood!
Anyway. It’s 68 and foggy. And I’m in a bad mood so watch out!!!! ๐ฎ

Sylvia –
Can you blow some of that fog and coolness towards the north, please?
It was about 100 degrees here in San Jose today, and my second story bedroom is still almost 80 degrees at 10:30pm, which I don’t enjoy for sleeping… A couple of days ago, it was chilly. It seems like the weather is just flip-flopping all around!

Worse than I thought. We had 5 or 6 people die (drowning victims), in North Texas and in my hometown of Fort Worth. Sooooo much rain, that “flash floods” from area creeks and rivers rose up and out of their banks so fast in the middle of the night (Sunday), and caught people off guard. Some houses and businesses were under five feet of water in just minutes. A lot of people had to be rescued from the roofs of their homes. Incredible amount of rain this year!!!!!

Oh Per,
What a tragedy. God bless everyone there!
Up here in OKC we have had the same flavor of weather the past couple of months. I barely made it to work one day because of the flash flooding.
BUT, it has been decent temps until today. Right now it is about 90 with 74% humidity makes it feel like 100!!! Dang, sure nice spring temps and now we are in the heat for the summer. This weather is so hard on many of us GBSers – as is my case. My feet are already swollen up big at work – AC here can’t keep up with the temps. Sorry about my bitchin’

sorry guys that you are getting soaked. We could use a little more of that here. Our water bill this month was skyhigh, the sprinkler and drip system is on almost every day alternating between the two.
It’s sunny as usual, just a few clouds, a bit cooler after weeks of 90’s.

It is raining so much here, that ponds are jumping their burms and converging together and spilling over into the street, fish and all. Kevin is outside right now driving a remote control boat in our yard. Thank God the house is on a hill! Can’t wait for the mosquitos to follow!! More storms comming! That’s how our weather is!

Some off and on rain today, high in the 70s.
Saturday we had a few sightings of funnel clouds. It was really weird, sunny, warm, and widely scattered showers all at the same time. I saw a funnel cloud from my in laws yard, it was later reported to have gone into south Toledo/Holland area. Funny thing was there wasn’t any kind of warnings or watches up at the time. Lucky it didn’t do more then just dance in the sky.

What a beautiful God given day it was in Illinois. A brisk morning, we watched the steam rising from the pool this morning while we ate, it was like a Wolf Man movie! The high was 77, who could ask for better!

It looks beautiful outside, but I have been cleaning all day so I wouldn’t know for sure!

Oklahoma City reporting here… this whole town is a mess. Schools and businesses are closed because of no power. The tree damage is unbelievable to see and listening to it the other night was very scary with the branches breaking and transformers popping.
I have no power at my house… it totally sucks. I hurt all over, can’t sleep well with 20 pounds of blankets on top of me, wore the wrong colored clothes to work, I’m sure all my food in my frig is bad by now, keeping my fresh $4 a gallon milk on the front porch. Oh joy, the radio just said low around 28. That means my house temp. will be right at or under 50 degrees. At least my cat doesn’t seem to mind too much.
I hope to report when things are better – if no report, that means I have ran away to never, never land (where ever that is).
-
AnonymousDecember 12, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Chrissy ~ thanks for your update. So sorry for this “mess” for you. I would have to find heat somewhere ’cause my temp drops to 96* very quickly and I don’t feel so well ~ ha!
Please check back in when you can and update us.
Oh, and a question ~ what’s the deal with a certain color of clothes for work:confused: At this point I’d think that they’d be glad that you could find some clothes to wear ๐

Chrissy,
you can send some of that goal, whether our way. It’s hard to get in the Christmas spirit when the temperature is 75ยฐ. I remember Oklahoma City back in the late 70s when we were stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. we had a ice/snow storm then. It wasn’t much fun than either. You can always turn on the television to watch C-SPAN or the presidential candidates speaking. All that hot air might help warm up the house. -

Oklahoma City Update — Still no power. It has been the most stressful week in ages. Long story… short of it, I do have heat from a generator at my sister’s house that lives next door. I went 3 nights sleeping in 50 degrees. I can plug in one small tv and that is it. Lots of good smelling candles and flashlights.
Been at work all week – dressing the best I can in the dark. Judi – what I meant was I wore colors that did not go together the other day, what I thought was gray was green when I got in the light. This is the only place I can check my email, etc.
I got desperate yesterday (before the heat came on) and took my cat to the vet for daycare as I felt it was just too cold for him in the house alone (he is not an outdoor cat). Boy, was Tigger ever so mad at me and they said he hissed all day long. I told him last night how sorry I was… It felt so good to sleep with normal temps.
The main problem is my feet as they are constantly cramping up without my heating pad on them at night. I feel like the walking dead with all the body aches I have.
Tonight we are expecting 2-4 inches of snow. We still have over 140,000 in the city without power. All my food in my frigerator is gone I suppose, I haven’t looked or opened the door since Monday.
I really appreciate your thoughts of warmth and sunshine. And yes, I would love to be in Arizona right now!

๐ฎ I have been talking to friends and family in Oklahoma City. The power is coming back slowly – thanks to 1000s of electric linemen from many other states – but it is snowing right now and the temp is hovering near freezing so this will slow the repairs down. I don’t know what Chrissy’s current situation is but hun – when that power comes on just close your eyes and toss out everything in the fridge! You do NOT want food poisening! Hang in there!

Oklahoma City, Day 6 – NO POWER. It is snowing and temps have dropped to 26. At least my milk and cat food are fine on the front porch. I will be dumping everything in my frig when I dare to open it.
I’ve been having really bad fevers/sweats/hot flashes or whatever during the night sleeping. I guess I just don’t feel very well at all. This too shall pass.
Thanks for everyone’s thoughts – send the lineman to my neighborhood, I know where the downed power line is and they disconnected it in the backyard nextdoor. Across the street has power and at least at night that shines in my window through the levelors. Going to friends today to do laundry.
Unfortunately, able to communicate only from work – which is where I am now on a Saturday to make up some missed time. Drag.
Thanks again for supporting me!

Several yrs back I can remember an ice storm that came through this area, our power was out a wk & a half. I have a wood stove so I didn’t have any problems with the heat, the oil lamps were a little hard to get use to. All the food we had in the refrigerator ruined, plus we were hooked onto a cistern where we got our water from. Well with no power I had to go there & draw water out with a bucket. Well I made a trip out one morning in the car & the main power lines were down in a yard near here. I finally got hold of someone from the power company. They sent some a line crew in to fix it, once it was repaired the power came back on. I’ve had experience with power outages, & I know what it’s like. Nothing but miserable.

Right now its 12 F and with the windshield it’s -6 F. I just spent about 1 hour outside with my snowblower. I need chains on my tires because they were spinning often. The storm is not over yet we might get another 6 inches of snow and I am sure we just got 14 inches so far.
I have to go to work in the morning that means getting up early to uses my snowblower. The snowplows usually leave a big pile at the end of my driveway.

Dustdemon and Sue
We made it through the storm, which for Toronto is good. Folks still laugh about the big storm a few years ago when our mayor Mel Lastman called in the army to help shovel.
Sue…you are lucky having a snow blower. We still do it the old fashioned way. Plus my next door neighbour’s driveway…she is in her nineties and has lived there for over 50 years.
Dustdemon…you are lucky living in Kentucky. Winters are a little more tame there. I get to Hawesville every so often. Nice area. -

Andrew we got 50cm of snow which I think we broke a record for the most snow fall in a day in 60 years. Our snowbanks are really high.
I had to buy a new snowblower a few weeks back because I got mine stolen about 4 weeks ago.
I need a snowblower I don’t have the strength to shovel for 90 minutes.Sue

In Oregon, we are having high winds and driving rain. It is close to freezing, but snow would be too nice. Today is the definition of a miserable, blustery day.
Because of the extreme conditions, I am sending crews out into the field equipped with survival packs in case they get stuck in snow up in the mountains. They hate carrying the packs, but if they ever need one, then all of a sudden I will go from being an idiot to a genius in a few minutes.

I had to post, as we have been in the deep freeze now for weeks here in northern MN! This past weekend it was -25 below & the daytime temps never went above zero. With the wind chill it was -60! We only live 100 miles from International Falls, the “icebox of the nation.” The one weekend that it was in the 30s, we had flown to Las Vegas! It has even been too cold to go snowmobiling, now that is cold, even for Minnesota.

I think this thread is so popular partially because so many of us are affected by the weather and sudden changes in temperatures.
Couldn’t wait to flip the page on the calendar and get rid of February. I live in Northern Il. Sure don’t want to experience another month like that for a very long time.
Aahhhhh, Saturday! (Understand I am a teacher) The sun is shining, the snow is melting and there is talk of the temps reaching 50 degrees tomorrow.

Hi Terry in some areas near were I live there will be 2 feet of snow and winter isn’t over. The temperature will be below normal for the next few weeks and they predict more snow. Which might make most of Canada break every record snow fall ever of just over 13 feet of snow in some areas. we need about another foot or 2 to break the record.
We got some ice pellets yesterday also with the snow so now I got to clean it with my snowblower. I hope the snow isn’t to hard because of it.
Right now with the wind chill if feels like -8F and our normal temperature of the day should be 36F but the most it will get to is 21F if there is no wind chill.Enough with winter already.

Unusual amount of snow for this time of year. Light snow began to fall about 1p.m. and then stoped for a while. By 3:30 p.m. it started again and had laid down a couple of inches. Which continued until about 6 p.m. when we ended up with about 5 to 6 inches. Weird, but much needed mostiure.

I now understand what it must have been like in the “dust bowl” years ago.
We had 70 mph winds all day yesterday. We are out in the country so I think some of our fields have re-located. I had to put my car lights on in the middle of the day, hoping any traffic would see me. The lights sure didn’t help to see the road! Trees down, electricity off, and we woke up today to an erie calmness. Not a cloud in the sky and 70 degrees.
I’m thinking mother nature is sending us a message somewhere in this mess of spring weather we have been having. -

well my muggy sunshine turned into severe storms with gustnados and a few funnels and tornados mixed in. The pink lightning gave way to a quick severe storm which gave way to awesome lightning on the backside. The lightning looked like a road map on the lowlying black clouds. Power outages all around and some damage too, thank goodness our power came back on and we only have small branches to clean up. today its still muggy and going up to mid 90s again!

Omaha has had thunderstorms every night to every other day for I dont know how long now. We had a tornado touch down Saturday night…early Sun morning at 2:30…a few homes destroyed and many left without power.
We have flood warnings all around to the east of us and they are calling for severe storms again tonite and tomorrow.
This is just crazy.
Today is cloudy and muggy…humidity always shines through in Nebraska.
For those that dont know…Omaha is a big city and not all corn fields. It’s unusual to have tornadoes hit in the city like that….and it came with no warning.Stacey

In Sask. we are experiencing some weird weather too. It is much colder than usual and on Sunday we had a massive hail storm, unsual for this time of year. It looked like we had a snow storm with the roofs all white. two days later there were still places where the hail had not melted. My garden doesn’t look too good….will probably have to reseed some of it. There is more paint on the ground than on the house….can’t blame it all on the hail though….we live in an old house and were planning on painting anyway. The blessing I see in this is we won’t have to scrape as much:D

We finally got a break int he heat. It was a bit cooler yesterday…mid 70’s for you guys in the USA. We got a half inch of rain last night and more predicted for today. We are in desparate need of rain but even more so in our north part of the province where over 60 forest fires are burning. Kind of like your California.
Emma, sounds like you guys need a break with some warm sunny days and not a drop of rain. It can’t seem to be average these days. Either people are getting too much or not enough. Hope things settle down for you all.

We are finally getting the rain. Of course now, because it is time for haying:p It is overcast right now and cool. There are calls for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes for later today. Hope they stay away. We had a tornado go through our yard about 20 years ago and man that was not fun. Took forever to clean up so empathize with communities that are hit. Wow, what a lot of devastation and clean-up they leave behind. Not to mention the mental anguish! ๐

74 and sunny. Seem to be in a holding pattern of sun one day, rain part of the next. Agree with you Jan about the weather this year. From floods, fires, tornadoes, and hot weather and whatever else is in between. Been in one tornado in MI and in SC after a hurriacaine went thru FL and the rian was torrential!! And the damage-it happens so fast and takes forever to repair and rebuild!! Enjoy today everyone whereever you are:) Emma

OMG… HOT, HOT AND HOTTER here in Oklahoma City. One weather site has 106.3, another shows 104.6 – sounds like radio station numbers, NOT. Drinking lots of water and then some more. I do not like this – where is the snow when we need it
