I think they pick the 3 best pay years of the last 10 years and take the average of that and that is how your DSS pay is figured. Well, that is how it was figured years ago. I already have my DSS and way just wondering how it was figured nowaday.

I must have received a determination from my visit to their shrink, the test I never took, but failed. It’s been a long time & I have too much brain fog. I’m praying for you girl.

I’m sorry for my nasty remark I made “The oprtho doc & ortho specialists don’t have a clue”. My Lawyer was with me at that hearing, I was awarded my SSDB. Praise the Lord!

Well that’s great news! Praise the Lord! I think that an orthopedic Dr. & shrinks are about the only Drs. SS has, they think Neurological disorders are orthopedic in nature. It boils down to they haven’t got a clue! Like Pat says, just tell the truth.

When I was sent to the SS shrink, he did my Functional Capacity Evaluation, I never got out of my chair, but Praise the Lord I failed that test, which helped me get my SSDB. 2 yrs. later I had another FCE, it took most of a day, I failed this one too, was so physically exhaustied that I spent the next week in bed.

I am praying for you girl,

That’s great Chrissy, don’t forget to make copies of all the papers you fill out. Lawyer’s share is 25% of your lump sum. But think of it this way “you may be denied SSDB without one”

SSDB “Social Security Disability Benefits” is what you need. SSI is Social Security Income. SSDB is more income. Praying for the best, Love, smitty

In the beginning I was told to keep a pain jounal. I did for maybe 2 years it was too depressing to go back & read it. For instance “horrible intractible, unending pain, prayed for death”. Definately too depressing for me. However it is a good idea, your activities & how you feel. Having a cold & allergies too.
Love & gentle hugs, smitty

Those darn insurance companys !!!
It is all politics and they have the government in their hip pockets. Just vote everyone of our government out of office and keep trying until we can get people who will represent the people.

I was told many years ago when I had GBS that it takes about one month to heal one inch of nerve. I am tall and my first thought was OMG. What they say today is that everyone is different and that age, the extent of nerve damage and overall health of the patient will dictate improvement. One day your father, like so many of us have, will come to the conclusion that there is not a darn thing that can be done about this and you have to accept and adapt to it. Just love him and be there for him, and help him to see what is good in his life.

You are exactly right. A compromised immune system is either working way slow or is not working at all.
That means it cannot fight infection very well. People with Asthma and allergies often have compromised immune systems.
GBS’rs have an immune system that has gone haywire or out of control.
In their case, slowing it down would be a nice thing to do.
