topomax?

I am currently using neurontin but tapered down from 3600 mg per day to 1200 per day. dr suggested trying topomax. anyone use that for nerve pain?

Ive use topomax with neurontin, but the topomax was suggested more for it’s weight loss effect than for pain. It did help counter the weight increase that neurontin caused and it may have helped with the pain. Once again, you may have a different outcome.

I took topomax for severe recurring migraines – it worked. I also lost 40 pounds while taking it. In higher doses it destroys appeitite. Jim – didn’t know neurotin caused weight gain – maybe that is part of my problem. Humm – – –

do you have to monitor bloods while on topomax? what about lyrica? dr wants me to switch to topomax but physiatrist says lyrica b/c of blood monitoring. pc didnt mention anything about bloods.
