Questions I Still Have

I am new to this website and I have a lot of questions that no one can seem to answer. To make a long story short, I was diagnosed with GBS back in the year of 1960. I wasn’t even one year old yet. No one seemed to know very much about the disease back in those days. As I have gotten older, I find myself wondering if the problems that I experience are caused from this disease. I do not walk very well because I can’t pick up my feet and I fall quite a bit. I have really bad headaches that the doctors can’t seem to find an answer for. I also get tired very easily but don’t seem to sleep well at night. If anyone else has experienced one or all of these symptoms would you please let me know how you cope with them.

      Hi Welcome To The forums,

What you seem to be experiencing is residuals of GBS even though it happened in 1960. Fatique, drop foot, and many other residuals are linked to GBS. Do you have pain also? What you need is to find a Neuro who can help you with these problems. Are you seeing a Neuro for these problems or just a Primary Care Doctor? Most Neuros have never had a patient with GBS let alone a Primary Care Dr who really doesn’t know anything about GBS.

There are alot of people here who will answer your questions.

      Take care 🙂

The challenges you are experience could all be residuals from GBS. Some experience several different residuals the rest of their life. A neurologist could help with these problems. Let us know what you find out.

My residuals for about 17 years were fatigue, ‘loss’ of stamina, and painfull feet when walking or exercising. The last few years they have become much worse with debilitating fatigue, weakness at times, cramping and burning in my hands and feet, and a host of other silly little things like dizziness etc. that Im not sure whether to attribute to post GBS or not.

Have you read any articles about post GBS? If not I can send you a few, just let me know.

      Greetings ltbhl,

Welcome to this forum. You are not alone in what you are experiencing. I’m 10 years post and fatigue is my middle name. This is a great place for support and I hope you will stay and visit with us more. We would love to know a little more about you – what is your name, where do you live, etc. My apologies if I am being too nosey, but that is just me… 😀

I just went to a new neuro and left very dissappointed as he really didn’t know what to say or do for me much at all. But, there are some good doctors out there and we have some lists of doctors – just need to know where you are.

      Take care and WELCOME!!!
