I was born in Indonesia, but left there in diapers so that doesn’t count. Went back to Bali though a couple of years ago to surf. Really fun and really inexpensive.
My travels to Mexico have been limited to Puerto Vallarta, Xtapa and Cabo. All of them were really fun. Don’t drink the water!
While I was in the military I went to Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and the Middle East. None of them were garden spots and none of them were fun.On the other hand, I grew up in Hawaii and go back there pretty often.
Travel agent alert! If any of you are planning trips to Hawaii let me know and I’ll point out some cool, non-touristy spots for you.
Good thread! Johnny Mac

wow! thats all i can say! you folks have had some good times, havent ya! i hope i get to travel like that some day! like the idea of having friends bring souvenirs, too, like things found in nature. thats the best kind of gift they could give!
i think our first big vacation will be to hawaii. wasnt interesting to me until i married my hubby and inherited a brother in law over there. funny that he has a hawaiian accent, since he grew up in michigan. hes been there like 15 years though, thanks to the navy. he liked it so much that he just never came home.
hubby has distant relatives in a castle in ireland or scotland, cant remember which. so that is another musdo for us. not liek they know us or anything, but it will be interesting just to see it. i have to do the colonies, too, since that is where my family settled when they came from england. some of their graves are documented in the family tree. the first one was a very young carpenter who came on a ship called elizabeth and ann when the colonies were in their infancy. gotta go on that treasure hunt for sure!

have mainly travelled within Australia but have been to every state except northern territory (where Ayres Rock is of “the dingo took my baby” fame)
went to the US as an exchange student in 1990 (wash state) and went over the border into B.C. Went back again in 93 and did LA, Las Vegas, Utah, Montana (hence the name of my first born) into Canada (Alberta and BC) and back to Wash state to visit the family I lived with. Dont think i will travel overseas again except to go and see my BIL & SIL in New Zealand one day

Jamie, my travels have been somewhat associated with business trips (Norway, UK, China, Alaska, Indonesia, Venesuela). I’ve been blessed by my vocation.
My pastor asked me to pray about going to Africa a little while back to help teach seminars. But I didn’t feel God was calling me to Africa. Now with this CIDP, I’m not sure it would be wise to consider it until it’s under better control. It’s still too early to tell how my treatment plan of PE alone is going to work. I’ve regained a lot of muscular function so far:D , but I’m starting to have a feeling PE alone will not be the answer for me and I’m going to have to use IVIg as well.
I’m curious, why do you ask about Africa?
BTW … know that I’m praying for you … and thanks for sharing your story.
