Jethro, you know you can count me in – I didn’t read your rules in detail. Nothing has changed, has it? I’ve been wondering where you have been as I haven’t seen any posts from you in a while. Glad to see you are up to this again this year.

I would like to encourage anyone who watches a little racing to join in with us. We are not experts by any means (sorry Jethro & Dick), we just get lucky sometimes. So please, lets get some newcomers to this fun group.

They changed “The Chase” to include 12 drivers. Does anybody want to guess who will make the Chase?

We could list our picks prior to Daytona 500, and then see how we did at the end of the year. See who can guess the most out of 12. As a tiebreaker, list the driver who will have the most wins by the Chase picking.

What do you all think?

With so many changes this year and with Toyota Camry’s on the track, I don’t know if I can pick the chase drivers… yet. Got lots more studying to do.

Interesting read going on about Dale Jr. and his talking about he wants to own more of DEI. Legally, I understand his step-mom should get it, but MORALLY he should get his father’s racing team. I’ll support Jr. in whatever he decides to do.

Getting a little restless waiting to hear those engines revving up!

Also, going to be missing BP lots!

As far as guessing the top 12, no order, just who you think they might be. I know is is a challenge, but a lot of racin’ is good luck and the best you got when you sit in the seat.

It’ll be neat to see how well our guess picks do over the year

Tony Stewart won the Shootout. He had no problem moving ’em out of his way !!!

Do you think Gilleland can hold up all week? Man, he has a fast car. Rookie though…………..

Montoya looks good. I thought he would. He wants to win pretty bad. He is also being pretty polite to everybody now. It’ll be interesting to see which race car will be the first one Montoya has to push out of his way. Friends, and enemies.

I’m also happy for Ricky Rudd. He is a good driver, and a good guy. He deserved a ride aftewr last year.

I can’t believe the Everham bunch….. all 3 cars had violations…. then Michael Waltrip… I knew his brother raced dirty… wow Bill was 7th fastest in the last practice, but I don’t see him making the race…. tears in my future this afternoon lol.

I cannot believe what is happening… I really feel for Michael and glad to see that he has qualified. I’m at work, so I only know what is being posted on msnbc.com – I guess I could go to nascar.com, duh.

I’ll be posting my picks probably tomorrow. My local bar starts their NASCAR league tonight – I can’t wait!!! It felt so good last weekend with the shootout to hear those engines again. I guess I am an addict…

I tell you what. In my humble opinion… NASCAR has made this year’s Daytona 500 more intriguing than ever

Cheating all over … caught
Drivers .. losing points
Owners fined and points lost
Crew cheaters, I mean crew chiefs … suspended

I wonder how much cheating they didn’t catch in year’s past?

I am sure they didn’t catch it all this year

I knew our scores were gonna be low but WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Tha was one of the more bizarre races I have ever seen. Poor Tony what might have been…… from 40th to 1st wow

Whee, I won !!!

Not really too much to brag on. It was a wreckin’ race. How about Montoya? Ran way back in the pack all day, missed the wrecks, and then finished what, 19th?

What a race though.

If they keep them throttled back, and make all the cars suck up to each other, they will get all that close racing, spectacular wrecks, demolition derby, tremendous cost to owners, injuries to drivers…..

I think soon, the costs will outweigh the benefits. I wonder how much they will have to “let them go unrestricted” to get some separation? At 185 mph, they are all close together. It might be safer at 200mph. Do something about bump drafting in the way of front bumper strength. Keep them from smashing the heck out of each other.

It is exciting racing to watch, but expensive for owners, dangerous for drivers, etc. Who will put on the brakes?

I’ve also checked things out at Nascar.com – by the way, I don’t like their new web site or maybe it is just because it is new and I am not familiar with it yet.

I get a magazine – I believe it is Motorsports or hmmmm… forgot. But I have a friend who delivers magazines and always pulls one out for me. I’ve been reading and reading the recent issue with all the drivers and tracks in it, and it has Dale Jr. on the cover 😉

Ahhh…think it’s time to go look for magazines this weekend!

I did a scout camping trip, We left Friday. It poured rain all day Thurs and then Fri. up until maybe 3:00. We left at 5:00. The field we were in was soaking wet. Then the cold air swept through. We went from 80’s to 20’s at night and wet. At least it was a Camporee.(Big field, lots of other scouts) then we got back and found out a scout got lost at Stone Mtn. (NC). I hope they found him.

Anyway, I was so busy Friday, I forgot to pick. Maybe I’ll do better by not doing. We’ll see. At the least we get to throw out a week.

Sorry you are lonely… it is usually me back here :p Oh, I gotta tell you about a dream I had Saturday night. I was meeting and then got to know Dale Jr. In person (in my dream) he seemed much hunkier and was so, so nice. We were starting to like each other, even though I am older than he is, then I woke up… I went back to sleep hoping to continue the dream and did but it was frustrating. I was looking all over for him and would be missing him like 5 minutes every place I went. This was around a track somewhere with all the garages and stuff – lots of walking but I wasn’t getting tired 🙂

Sorry abt blubbering the other night was kinda blitzed. Congrats to all this past week.

Timing, its all in the timing! It took me two weeks to finally do well with my picks!!! Actually I meant to post picks Saturday and got busy cleaning my house and plum forgot. That is why I would usually do this on Thursday or Friday. I didn’t get to watch the whole race, but it was getting to be a little bit of bumper cars for what I did watch. Back to regular cars next week…

I’m surprised I didn’t too bad at all for being the ‘sleeper’ of the week. It is weird – I have stopped some meds and my memory is worse than ever. Go figure.

Gotta tell you all what happened Saturday night at my local bar. My buddies and I were watching the race, and the bar was having a raffle and auction to support the USO. One of the auction items was a Crown Royal NASCAR jacket (real heavy cotton type). They had a men’s medium and a men’s large. I got three guys to try them on with me and the medium fit me perfect. Long story short (ha ha), I ended up being the only bidder starting at $50 on the medium jacket. So I got it!!! It is just gorgeous – has to be worth a couple hundred I figure. Now I am looking forward to cooler fall air to wear it (I know it is only spring).

I do like Jamie McMurray, but I’ll never forsake my love… Dale Jr. 😮
