What in the world? There are some exciting developments for traumatic muscle injury repair.
See:
1. The Clinical Trial- http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT01292876
2. A video and an article- http://www.cbsnews.com/news/patients-regrow-muscles-with-pig-bladder-tissue/
3. A link to the University article- http://www.upmc.com/media/newsreleases/2014/pages/pitt-mcgowan-study-shows-regnerative-medicine-improves-muscle-leg-function.aspx
Unfortunately, as stated above, and in the Clinical Trial, this process is limited to Traumatic muscle loss occurring within the last 18 months.
I contacted the Trial Advisers and was told this procedure is not effective for genetic or neuromuscular disorders.
Sigh, maybe someday.
