Mobility assistance from Toyota

Today we received a $1000 mobility assistance check from Toyota for our converted new Toyota Sienna. Some of you may remember our long struggle with Honda to get a similar assistance amount for our Honda Element. Although we had proof that we were the first owners they still rejected our application repeatedly based on a technicality. Last year we traded our Honda for the Toyota Sienna during our 3 months 6000 mile road trip visiting family across the US before settling with our daughter and family in the Seattle area. The main reason was the rough ride in the Honda and the discomfort of having to sit in my power chair on the passenger side the entire time. The struggle with Honda made the decision even easier.

We purchased the Toyota under the exact same circumstances as the Honda through the same company, Freedom Motors in Michigan. We received the check no questions asked. 😀 The Toyota Sienna has a ramp in the back to store the wheelchair. The ride is very comfortable for both of us.

Awesome ride Norb. I imagine having the Honda out of sight makes it a little easier to forget that problem. It is so amaing to me how consumers get ripped off. Enjoy the new vehicle!

I’m glad Toyota came thru for you… They need all the p.r. help they can get!
It was too bad Honda gave you the run around.
Do the “big three” offer anything similiar… I’ve always tried to give them a
      plug whenever possible…

I hope this comes across as good natured teasing….

      Norb,
It looks like the Toyota has a lot more room in it. From what you said I assume that means you can get out of you power chair and use the front passenger chair. Does the chair swivel around 180 so you can get into it?
