[COLOR=red][B]”On October 2, 2006, CMS published its new Medicare payment amounts for power wheelchairs – and the news is grim for those with disabilities. Effective November 15, 2006, CMS will slash what Medicare will pay for a power wheelchair by up to 41%.”

That’s so stupid, how about cutting some redundancy in the system to save money instead. Pretty soon I can see them saying quality of life is a luxury and not a need. I will send off some emails too Dave, thankfully it doesn’t affect me personally, but it still pisses me off.

What is more interesting is what brought it about. There is a company called the scooter store who were falsifying records and getting chairs for just about anyone who ask. The SS Administration’s answer for this was to make them attend an ethics class instead of suspending them, and then cut the benefits for everyone who needed a chair, they are still doing business. MAKES YOU WONDER HOW MUCH CHANGED HANDS????????

What a mess our country is in with the failure of government to take care of her own people. It is a cruel, cruel blow to the dignity of those of us who need help. Instead we concentrate on the profane and idiotic. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I was told by my keepers that I should get a power chair because I qualified for one a few years ago, but I rejected it because it would make me lazy and less fit. I began to lose strength in my hands and arms so I agreed. They told me that I need to used one as it will increase my range of travels. Boy, did it! The primary reason I consented was that I was told that in the future they will not be available or paid for in full. I see that has happened. Get one! If you qualify. Thanks Fireman Dave! And HI Jerimy.
