I am just curious as to how many people have been told they have low potassium? I am seeing it come up fairly often in the postings. It seems that when ever I go to the ER after my IVIG ( for the menigitis headache) they often tell me I am low in potassium? Is there a connection with CIDP or the IVIG treatments

Emily has slightly low potassium. She also has slightly low iron.

Both have been low since she was an infant. We always thought it was just her normal.

Pablo – Potassium levels are checked via a blood test.

      Sonia,

Just had IVIG yesterday too tired to go look at blood tests. I’ll ask Dr Kelly on Monday.

Talk to you next week, going back to bed!

      Hi,

My potassium has always been low. When I went to Duke they wanted my
potassium to be at 4.0 on my lab tests. It was at 2.8.

When your potassium is low you can have more muscle spasms. If you take diuretics, that can really lower your potassium. Low potassium also gives me irregular heartbeats. I take K-Dur every day to get my levels up. That’s prescription potassium.

Also, magnesium should be checked because it can have side effects if it’s too low.

      Thanks.
