…All brands except Gamunex are processed with glucose, while Gamunex is processed with amino acids.
Recently, in another thread someone gave us the statement above. Hmmmm?
I tried to research IVIG ‘processing’ briefly. I stopped when I found this site:
http://www.ashp.org/Import/PRACTICEANDPOLICY/PracticeResourceCenters/DrugShortages/ShortageResources.aspx
Focus on the lead following www. ASHP = the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists. Probably a reputable group, couldn’t say for sure though. Scroll down the page to IVIG Tools #4. On the way scrolling down see if any other documents interest you.
Here’s the thing, they have this awesome spreadsheet at:
http://www.ashp.org/s_ashp/docs/files/DShort_IVIGsidebysideupdatedDec07.pdf
Which as it’s name implies is a side-by-side comparison of IVIG products. It’s a .pdf file from Dec 2007. Overall, the data should still be valid.
Shucks, I can’t copy it, or any part of it. Bottomline?:
Gammunex, Gammagard Liquid 10% and Privegen 10% all CONTAIN 0% sugar.
Lot’s more data there. Recommend ya’all look it over.
