emg/ncv question

      😀 Hi all –

      I saw a new neurologist recently, and he made the comment, that an EMG appears normal in GBS. I guess what would be abnormal then, is the NCV testing??? The comment kind of caught me off, because I have a copy of the report, and it shows ‘slowing’, but Im not sure if it ws the NCV part or emg. Any thoughts?? Gene?? I know you’re good w/this topic! Thanks !!

      cara,

      the emg tests to see if the muscles respond to external stimuli, as opposed to our internal nerves. so, yes, gbsers have a normal emg [no muscle probs]. the ncv looks for nerve damage which is our prob. hope this helps. take care. be well.
