There is no need to be over dramatic and I’m sure the title of the message was explicit they usually are did you actually click on the message and view the contents? I highly doubt it attacked your computer as there is no way to put anything into the message that would do that. Next time please don’t lie to me, as I went into your account while writing this email, read the message and since I turned off all coding there aren’t even pictures in the message itself, oh and not to mention the message is just one day shy of being a month old.

I had to change your password to (12345) so I could log in and see this message.

I do not want to add to the controversy at all. I just want to say that it is really scarey some of the junk email that comes especially when one does not expect it like in a protected site. I also would have been dramatic about it because it is so unexpected in this site, but there were recent postings about infiltration of the site by unwelcome visitors–one selling stuff and one like this— so it happens (commented on in August and November and at least one posting by the GBS IT support guy that I remember). At work, most of my email comes from predictable places, but on the forum, there are a lot of people with a lot of different personal email providers and one cannot guess by title or person if it is really a forum member or someone else. The “bad” emails I get virtually never have an explicit title and, yes, I do not open them to see how bad they are, but my email account on my office computer allows me to see the first line of the message without opening it (Thank goodness) and so can avoid this unless I am on the laptop computer. I felt constantly battered and afraid to use the computer at the beginning when I was opening them or getting a lot. It was like having a flasher on the computer. I stopped getting as many unwanted messages when I stopped using out-of-office automatic replies.

Anniedee3249, I hope that you do not leave the forum.

I fully admit to being old enough to still not be comfortable with the internet and all that comes with use of it–both good and bad, but this grey haired Southern lady grew up believing that kindness and politeness are very important in this world–now more than ever as we can now communicate almost instantly with people we have never met.

      Dear Annie,

I received both private messages, and reported both to: info@gbs-cidp.org

I did not open either of the messages. I checked the names of the senders and both were unregistered, so I deleted them. I look at these msgs like the quote from Forrest Gump: “an email from an unknown and unregestered person at a forum site “is like opening a box of chocolates, you never know what you get until you open the box.” And I never opened the box.

I hope you do not leave the forum – that is what these unregistered people want…to disrupt and cause controversy on the forum to get more people to leave just from reading about these emails.

Best policy, if in doubt check the members list. If the sernder’s name is not on the list, then he/she is unregistered. Just delete the messag and forger about it….these messages are very, very rare at this forum.

      Regards to all.

      Jethro

P.S. I forgot to comment on my reply from Anthony Ricci. I left the message that I thought was obsene, and told him he could view it if he wanted…then to delete it. He told me he could not go into my personal accounts and could not delete the msg…for me to delete the msg myself. On the 2nd msg that appeared to be a push for TamiFlu, he told me he had pulled the unregistered user and the msg was a few days old, and once again to delete the msg myself. I suggested that the Administrator be added back into the menu like it was at one time so the forum users could just click on and report such pvt messages or inapprorate posts. He informed me that all reports be made at info@gbs-cidp.org So, that was basicly our comments about the private messages. I don’t understand why he responded to Annie the way he did??

WOW! I am shocked by the response you received. Totally not what I would expect. I do not know who Anthony Ricci is & I am sorry he replied to you that way. I’m sure there was a better way to handle it & I hope he learns from this experience.

I know that the GBS/CIDP Foundation was just handed over to a new person so maybe that has something to do with it…maybe they are still working out the kinks…but I would be really upset if I received a response like that.
