I am very new to all this.

Could anyone recommend a CIDP doctor in Miami area? Thank you in advance!

Dr. Ram Ayyar and Dr. Steven Resnick, both in Miami, have been recommended elsewhere in this forum. I have no first hand knowledge of either.

Please contact your local GBS/CIDP Chapter office for doctor referrals here:
      Caroline Morrison
      Miami, FL 33133
      Phone – 305 498 3147
      Email –

I hope you get the best treatment available so you are fully in ‘recovery mode’ soon.

Another question: I know there is no Center of Excellence in Florida, but anyone knows a hospital in Florida that’s relatively good with CIDP?

I am in limbo and need a firm and accurate diagnosis.

The hospital doesn’t make the diagnosis, the neurologist does. I was treated successfully in a hospital which is not a Center of Excellence. But I had two excellent neurologists, and the hospital has excellent staff and the necessary equipment. The only special equipment required is a lumbar puncture room with fluoroscopic-aided equipment, and a plasmapheresis machine if you get plasma exchange.

The University of Miami Hospital and the Mount Sinai Medical Center have experience with GBS/CIDP, according to posts from other forum members:

Thank you so much GH and Jim-LA. You have no idea how much your posts have helped me in the past couple of days. I begin to think I can still lead a near normal life with CIDP.

I will definitely pursue a new neurologist. Just need to know who is the right one. I want to go with a proven doctor/center because I think if I go with a “trial and error” approach with finding the right neurologist, it will likely delay my diagnosis.
