I am reading:

“The Best Seat in the House”
HOW I WOKE UP ONE TUESDAY
AND WAS PARALYZED FOR LIFE
– by Allen Rucker (2007, HarperCollins)

This Hollywood writer shares his story and insights after becoming paralyzed due to an auto-immune disorder. It’s not GBS, it was Transverse Myelitis.

The parallels to GBS are interesting but it is the way he describes what he went through physically, mentally and emotionally that makes this book such compelling reading.

I give it “2 Thumbs Up”……

I always have one or two books that I’m reading and several waiting……wife is a librarian, so I don’t even have to go looking for books!

I’m a “multi-tasker”…..sometimes I read, watch TV with captioning, and listen to the stereo…..okay maybe I’m more weird than a multi-tasker….

I think this is the man that’s married to Meredith Vieira on the TODAY show. She did a story about her husband and I was very impressed by his spirit and wanted to read about him, but I couldn’t catch his name clearly and couldn’t get the title of his book.

One book on the night stand – part of the Thrush Green series. Not that good.
One book in the library – The Madonnas of Leningrad. great read
One book in work backpack – a mystery
One book in the bathroom. A bio of CS Lewis.

Liz,

Meredith Viera’s husband is Richard M. Cohen and the name of his book is:

Blindsided: Lifting a Life Above Illness: A Reluctant Memoir
