I was in your same situation when my neuro told me that we had just about run out of treatment options and the next thing to try was the chemo. At that point I looked at what/how much chemo would be involved and decided if I was going to go through all that, I might as well do the sct procedure and at least get an immune system reboot in the process! Additionally is the consideration of the length of treatment time … it is probably less invasive on the personal life to stay home and do the chemo rather than spend almost 2 months in Chicago. I believe it is the chemo that puts the CIDP ion remission – the stem cells just help us to make a faster come back.
