If your muscles are atrophied as a consequence of paralysis, physical therapy is essential to restore normal muscle strength. If you are strong enough and coordinated enough to go about normal activity and if you get enough exercize on your own, you may not need physical therapy. Your neurologist is the best judge of whether you need it. Whether you are doing professional physical therapy or not, it is important to get regular exercise paced to your condition.
