I’m with you Elmo! If I did not take the Provigil, I know I could not work.

Alison did you develope the rash when you started the Provigil? You’re right when you say medication affects everyone differently. I haven’t researched the drug yet but I too can tell you I can not do w/o it. I don’t have to spend my entire weekend on the couch anymore and can manage to go up and down the stairs a few times a day at work. The doctor gave me samples to take the first few weeks and now that I have a script the insurance company wont pay for it. I need some kind of preauthorization, most times they end up not paying. Who are they to dictate what kind of treatment I need to function everyday? They are 8 dollars a pill! If they deny me I don’t know what I’m going to do………

One last update, Provigil still going strong after 3 weeks. I have returned to a more regular and acceptable sleep schedule, and a more regular and “normal” daily activity lifestyle.

As the bump to keep other topics high:

LAst post asked about Ritalin vs. Provigil …any takers?

Just a quick update. After about a week (and a couple sleepless nights), I am adjusting to the Provigil fairly well. The script is for 200mg tablets. More than anything, i have noticed an ability to help my wife more during the weekends. At the same time, there is definitely a need to monitor the amount to energy the body is spending. I can see that the drug allows you to do more, but the body may not necessarily agree. It is a fine line to balance upon. After one week, I certainly am not expert, nor do I have the fine line mastered. But, for those curious, I was willing to shell out the $50 copay required for a month’s supply (after a one-week test) to continue and hopefully resume a more normal life.

Thanks
Swimm

I have been taking provigil since November. My doctor gave me samples to try. Took 2 months to convince me to give it a try but was well worth it. 😀 I can actually stay awake long enough to see my family. My doctor continues to give me samples, as they are $$$ as mentioned.
