Hi Nigel! I have a feeling in about another 3 months that you will be seeing yourself getting so much better at playing that piano! So many times I have wanted to call it quits and throw in the towel. But doing that would only be a war that got won by our disease! Now now! We can’t let this stuff defeat us and anything we do to improve our strength is one ticket back to freedom! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

I have some work to do also in getting myself better and it looks like we both are going to be reporting our progress. And hopefully each day we will both see ourselves getting stronger and stronger. I don’t know about you but I want to see a good old ripe age of 90 and sure hope I see that day with progress and no suffering.

Keep us posted and when you start playing the piano again professionally again, I will be dying to hear that good news! So so proud of you! Keep fighting! Hugs

Hi Nigel! Sounds to me like the nerves are trying to kick in and start working. You doing the physical therapy on your hands is causing the muscles and nerves that you were not using to rebuild itself making those nerves work but the nerves that have not completely regenerated are being fired up causing that twitching. A good sign that life is trying to reform again in that hand. Way to go Nigel! Your playing that piano! So proud of you!
Keep working and don’t give up! Hugs

Those nerve conduction test usually will tell whether yours is Acute or Chronic. It sounds like this Neuro that read your test giving you full hope might be right if they saw the EMG readings.
Sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don’t and say the doctor has to read the report! Just depends on who gives you the EMG/NCV.
Most of the time your doctors will do the test themselves. Don’t know how the UK does it. Only had 1 that was an EMG Specialist and they did the report without the doctor being there. But all of mine except one had the doctor doing it~ So you might get lucky and get an answer right away.
Hope it turns out okay! Will keep my fingers crossed! Hugs

Hi Nigel! The chances of getting it a second time is there but extremely rare. Staying away from vaccines are one good option of protecting yourself from getting it again.Make sure you talk with every doctor you see and tell them about the GBS and get their advice before having any procedures done. You will see frustration and get angry that you can’t do things but in time things will get somewhat better. I think your determination is going to be what pulls you through! God bless!

Hi Nigel! Never give up Hope! Hope can take a person a very long ways. It is your dream and desire that makes you want to play and because of that dream it will make you fight even harder to get well again! You have a goal set and because you have not finished that goal. Your going to fight every inch of the way to make that dream come true!
For some of us it takes a little longer and sometimes we don’t always become back perfect again. But this gives us a reason to become stronger and have that desire to do things that we can’t do therefore we end up somehow someway ending up doing it!
Stay positive and don’t let anything get you down. Good luck dear~ I hope that you get to see that piano again and hope to someday see you playing! Hugs

Hi Nigel~ Welcome to the forum! So sorry that you had to go through all this and I do pray that you will see the Piano again playing like you once did. It can be very depressing to see your dreams and your goals get ruined by all this. But I hope they can get you back to normal again and you get to have the life you once had before GBS took over~ Nice to meet you Nigel~
