Eye problems…

I will skip the “sex” part of your question, partly because I am a woman, partly because Ken covered all bases on that one… I have had trouble with my eyes, lots of problems since I came down with CIDP almost 8 years ago. I developed cataracts from the 1,000 mg of solumedrol I was infused with for 21 months. I had successful surgeries in both eyes (could then see 20/20 for distance, but my eyes get blurrier as the day goes on & tire easily. It’s extremely frustrating because I love to read, & by evening that is next to impossible. They are also very sensitive to outdoor light, but again that could be due to the cataract surgeries.

there are a number of us that have eye concerns associated with GBS–some with the eye muscles that move the eye–so that they see double and some with actual blurried vision. My neurologist says that you cannot have vision problems with GBS since vision is central, but, several of us have this. What can I say–it happens. There are more and more information about “central nervous system” overlap in “peripheral nervous system” illnesses.
Since having MillerFisher variant of GBS 3 years ago – I have problems with my eyes being tired and blurry most of the time also problems with mouth and tongue (mine started with tongue going numb first) – do other people have same problems – would be pleased to hear.
I had miller fisher 3 months ago but thank god it never affected my eyes, it only affected my balance and speech, and thank god now 3 months later I am 99% fine I walk and talk (can’t stop) I go to work, drive, type on the computer like nothing happened, you can always email me at mosheshia@yahoo.com.

My eyes gradually looked normal in that they were no longer paralyzed after GBS at age 20, but I began wearing bifocals to work on a computer writing and editing full-time at the age of 30. By 40 I had trifocals, and now a decade a later my eyes just don’t last long at all. I’ve learned to live with it but it’s the pits at times. WHether this is just me, or not, I don’t know.
